    Roller settings

I have a barley crusher that works great. The roller settings are set at .040. This 4works great for 2 row barley malt. I notice that wheat malt grain is smaller and it seems like the grains can go through the crusher without being crushed . Should the rollers be adjusted tighter and the wheat...

    Quick question Re hops

I plan on brewing a standard AG Wheat beer. When I brewed this before I used 1/2 oz Magnum in the boil for 60 minutes. I'm out of Magnum. Can I substitute 1 oz Pearle for the Magnum? I think the alphas come out about the same.

    Sugar- Any difference?

Im planning on brewing a Belgian Abbey Treipel beer. The recipe calls for 1.5 lbs "Belgian clear candi sugar". I believe this is nothing but pure sucrose. My LHBS sells it in 1 llb packaged at $5.00 a lb which means a $10 outlay. Can't I just subtitute grocery store table sugar at a fraction of...

    Yeast Harvesting

What am I doing wrong? I tried to harvest yeast from an All Grain Kolsch brew. After I siphoned the wort from the primary fermenter into a secondary I poured about a quart of previously boiled and cooled water into the primary fermenter, swirled it around and poured about a half quart into a...

    Hop Stopper

I want to thank Dennis Collins for working with me and making recommendations on how to make the Hop Stopper work properly. I also want to thank Duke for recommending it. As I wrote in a previous thread the screen clogged and I had to bail out the keggle. After I switched from a immersion wort...

    Wort pumps

I know nothing about wort pumps. I've never even seen one. I'm not Arnold Schwarzennegfer. I'm sure he would have no trouble lifting a keggle filled with 5 or 6 gallons of boiling wort from a burner at ground level to a picnic tabe so he could siphon the wort through a counterflow chiller into...

    Hop Stopper

I recently upgraded my equipment and bought a used Keggle from Sabco and a Hop Stopper from Innovative Homebrew Solutions. I first tested the system out with water and it worked great-siphoned all but 2 cups from the Keggle. I then brewed a 5 gal Kolsch which called for 2 ounces Hops and a...
