    Need Keg Help!

Definitely not the gas. When I de-pressurized, no gas was going in, which leads me to believe that something is clogged in the "In" valve. The "Out" post is not clogged. Just to check, I attached the CO2 line to the "Out" valve and ran gas into the keg, and it bubbled, so I'm pretty sure...

    Need Keg Help!

Hi all, Like the title says, I need help on my kegs. I'm still fairly new at this. Here's my setup: I have 2 Ball Lock kegs, and a CO2 tank with a splitter running gas into both. Up until a couple weeks ago everything was running great. For simplicity sake, let's call Keg #1 Porter, and Keg...

First Try at Cider (with pics)

Hi all, First and foremost, thank you for the help and advice as I work toward my first two batches of hard cider! I really appreciate everyone's input. Second, I'm about 4 weeks into my first batch and 2 weeks into my second. The one on the left was pressed 4 weeks ago, has been fermenting...

    Cider...Round 2

To be honest, I'm just really new at this whole cider thing, and wanted to try something different. Last week I added yeast to 5 gallons of pure, fresh pressed apple juice and that's going to be my 'standard' cider. This batch is in day 5 of fermentation. So I don't get stuck with 10 gallons...

    Cider...Round 2

Do you think pure honey would be a better option? If so, 2 pounds?

    Cider...Round 2

Hi all, Thanks again for all of your help on my previous thread, first try at cider: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/first-try-at-cider-with-pics.686027/ As the title of this thread says, I'm moving on to round 2 and making 5 more gallons. Last night I pressed the apples, added 5...

First Try at Cider (with pics)

**Update** After waiting 3 days for the Campden tablets to do their thing, yesterday evening I dissolved some yeast nutrient in hot water and added it to the juice along with some pectic enzyme. Then I pitched the yeast and hoped for good results. A few hours later I checked on things and...

First Try at Cider (with pics)

Thank you! Yeah, next time I am going to try and do it outside. Yesterday was COLD though, so I decided to run the operation in the kitchen. It was messy, but at least I was warm :)

First Try at Cider (with pics)

When would be a good time to add the additional sugar or honey? Right before I pitch the yeast?

First Try at Cider (with pics)

One more thing I may try is dry-hopping the second batch. We had some hoppy store-bought cider last month, and while I wasn't a big fan, my wife loved it. I may try hopping the second batch and let her drink most of it. Does anybody have a recommendation on what kind of hops to add and how...

First Try at Cider (with pics)

I knew I forgot to mention something! Yes, I will be using a yeast nutrient. I also plan on using a little bit of pectic to clear the cider a bit. I like your ideas for the second batch. A few questions/thoughts: How much cinnamon would you recommend for 5 gallons? Because I don't like...

First Try at Cider (with pics)

Hi all, Yesterday I began making my first batch of hard cider from fresh pressed apples. I live in Oregon, and although our northern neighbor Washington is known as the apple state, we have our fair share of apple trees as well. There are dozens of trees within walking distance of my house...

    Kegging Help!

I wanted to follow up on this. Thanks to everyone for your help. The beer finally got carbonated, but then it was pouring nothing but foam. I realized it was the short tap line which was only 4 feet. I switched out my tap line to a 12.5 foot hose, and that solved the problem. I'm now...

    Kegging Help!

One more thing--I just measured the lines, and my CO2-->Keg line is 3 1/2 feet, and my Keg-->Tab line is 4 feet. Is this enough hose?

    Kegging Help!

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I've turned up the pressure a little bit, but it sounds like it is just going to take more time. This is ok because we are heading out of town for a while, so hopefully when we get back it will be ready to go.

    Kegging Help!

Hi all--I used to homebrew a lot, but took a few years off, mostly because I really hated bottling my beer. I was recently gifted a couple of Corny Kegs and a CO2 regulator, which I took down to the local homebrew shop and replaced all the rings and seals. When I left it was all in great...
