    Last five bottles flat?

lol thanks for that... maybe that is the cause - too much pressure... at least I'll know for next time I share a beer to make sure the bottle is firm to squeeze... It was a little embarrassing...

    Last five bottles flat?

It was my first batch and I was pretty careful to put tabs in every bottle. Plus it would be a heck of a coincidence for the five without tabs to be the last ones I drank and all in a row. The bottles are brand new from the Coopers Brewing kit so they should have been fine.

    Last five bottles flat?

I had twenty five perfectly carbonated, beautifully bubbly and clear lager. Went to share one of my last five bottles with a friend and it was flat. Opened another and that was flat too. Fortunately I had some other home brew (draught) to share so we had that and it was fine. I checked...

Would like to lower alcohol percentage.

Wow, one every two hours? So you could start at lunch time and finish at midnight and only have had a six pack? Sheesh, I'm going to monitor myself a bit more I think.

Would like to lower alcohol percentage.

lol, I have a day job... I'm self employed... so knock off time is when I say so ;) I would rather use less sugar than more water... don't want a weaker flavour... very much enjoying the taste of it how it is right now. And yes, that many beers will give me a buzz but at least it takes me...

Would like to lower alcohol percentage.

Don't drink four bottles? Are you crazy? ;) Yes, wine bottle size... basically three litres... doesn't seem like a lot while I'm drinking it... I enjoy drinking, especially in the afternoons on a lovely sunny day (it's summer here) but I'm finding I'm all pooped out by sevenish in the evening...

Would like to lower alcohol percentage.

Thanks I'll do that. It tastes delicious but four 750ml bottles kicks my butt a little too efficiently. ;)

Would like to lower alcohol percentage.

Hi again The Coopers kit I buy makes beer at about 5.25% alcohol. I'd prefer around 4%. The kit is one can of extract, one kg of dextrose, yeast and 23L of water. (Edit: oops, water added UP to 23L) Shall I add more water or less sugar and how much (more or less)... Ta :)

    Degassing? What's that?

I'm making Edwort's Apfelwein and there was nothing about degassing in the instructions for that. Then I got carried away and looked up recipes for plum wine and grapefruit wine because my friend had excess fruit. So I have a batch of grapefruit wine and a batch of plum wine started... do...

    Bulk Priming with Cooper's Kit?

The cheap bastard in you will need to buy a syphon, lol. ;)

Nebb - my first batch is only 2.95% alcohol????

My instruction booklet says to add half a percent for priming sugar (bottling) so your finished alcohol percentage should be 3.45%... (1032-1010)/7.46 + .5 Nothing wrong a lower alcohol beer... but I understand where you're coming from wanting to find the reason.

    Airlock bubbling after 10mins???

1 Can Mexican Cervesa 1kg Lager Enhancer Brew Blend No.15 1 Packet Saflager S-23 Pitched at 75.2 (hot for this yeast) - I've packed ice around the fermenter. It's only been in there about ten minutes and the airlock is bubbling. I loosened the lid and it's still bubbling. Is it...

I'm using carbonation drops... are they corn sugar? (Yes, I'm very ignorant, lol.)

Confession - I drank 4 day old beer

Thanks everyone... I'm definitely going to try those suggestions. I just bottled my second batch yesterday. It was in the primary twenty days. I'm definitely going to age my beers properly. I just couldn't resist a "sample". I haven't had any more of these beers yet. They have only been in...

Is it a full time job keeping up with the n00bs?

I used the search function a few times when I first joined to try to find answers to my questions before posting because I was nervous about asking dumb questions. I was hindered in my search because as a newbie I didn't know some of the lingo. I tried all sorts of key words and after...

Is 2 weeks in the bottle enough?

That's the second time you've referred to my post. Once again, I only posted about my stomach ache because I fear an allergic reaction to corn.
