First Helles is a bit fruity

So, I've made a few lagers before but never one as light as a Helles. Everything else has had a strong flavor background ruachbier, and very hoppy pilsners. I just racked it to a keg with biofine after lagering for 2 months, but it's a little fruity. It's nothing offensive, but it's certainly...

Beersmith 3 FG vs yeast attenuation

    Thank you! Interesting stuff.

Beersmith 3 FG vs yeast attenuation

That sounds good. 9 lbs pilsner (weyermann) 14.4 oz Dextrine malt

Beersmith 3 FG vs yeast attenuation

But 76 max attenuation vs 84 predicted attenuation is out of line right?

Beersmith 3 FG vs yeast attenuation

I assume there is a logical reason for this, but can someone explain why BS3's FG is lower than the given yeast's attenuation? For example. Let's assume a lager with a light body mash @ 145, with Mangrove Jack M84 with an attenuation between 74-76. Let's say this yields an OG of 1050. At 76%...

Please describe Great Lakes Dort Gld

Thank you! This helps. The way I wrote the recipe, from reading beeradvocate, it has way more dextrin malt than I would think is reasonable (9%), and also a low temp single infusion mash. I was trying to put myself in the shoes of a low-budget brewery and what they might do in the first few...

Please describe Great Lakes Dort Gld

Could someone please describe to me what Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold tastes like from a brewers perspective. I’m going to try to brew one but never tasted it. There’s a few clone recipes floating around out there so this will help me make some tweaks. I doubt it will taste like it, but the...

I need a way to extend this tap

jddevinn, "beer thread" as far aside have learned today (I could be wrong), is the threaded part of the sanke tap. Its almost an inch wide, just a tad less, it also doesn't have the flare at the end. What you sent might work for the shank area though, but I really prefer it taller than wider...

I need a way to extend this tap

Seatazz, I didn't mention it, but in that photo, the ball lock part is actually a flow reduction valve. Its does a really decent job of not needing tubing to reduce foaming. You get really nice pours with it. Just foams for a few seconds on initials pours as most all taps do that are not cooled.

I need a way to extend this tap

Well I've come up with two options. One is to use shut off valves. Thats the only thing I can find that is straight beer thread female to male. I can use 1 or more to get as mush distance as I want. The other option is to use 90 degree elbows. I ordered some valves as I would rather it be taller...

I need a way to extend this tap

I was thinking about that, while it would work, it's not sexy enough.

I need a way to extend this tap

So, I was hoping you all might be able to give me some ideas here. I have a traveling picnic tap that I hook up to my ball lock kegs and it works great! I decided to use it on a commercial keg, so I bought a sanke coupler and converted it to accept ball lock connections. Problem is that the tap...

Empty Beer Line Storage on Kegerator

Its a non stop battle for me, but I’m also a trained taster so maybe I’m more sensitive. The problem I’ve had the most is with pediocacus when leaving them empty. Regarding that, when it is slightly bad, it sucks a lot of the hops from the beer, but still decent beer. When it’s really bad you...

Chit malt in 3 Roller Monster Mill

I was thinking about using the under modified chit type malt (because I never have and it sounds fun), but then I realized that my mill might not be able to handle the harder grains and it might do more harm to my mill than the fun I would get out of it. Or the malt just might be too hard to get...

Do you actually take the post o-rings off, out just apply to the exterior?

    Keg lube, how often?

How often do you reapply your keg lube to your gaskets? After each cleaning? Deep cleaning?
