Questions About Making Cider Mead (Cyser) - 5 gal

Awesome, I have the fermenter filled and the yeast pitched. I also got creative with different sugars, and I made a must that I added in with some berries and orange peel. I'm really hoping for a complex product here. I'll rack it to a secondary in a few weeks maybe.

Using different types of sugar in one fermentation

Thanks for all the feedback, I can read through replies more later. I did want to clarify though that I'm not brewing beer actually. This is more for cider, mead, wine, etc.

Using different types of sugar in one fermentation

I can't seem to find anything on this...anywhere. But what happens when you use different types of sugar in one fermentation? Like mixing brown sugar and raw sugar together, or adding in agave or honey for example to experiment with the flavor profile? At first it seems like that would add...

Questions About Making Cider Mead (Cyser) - 5 gal

Appreciate the tips @Blacksmith1 I actually didn't realize that much honey would dissolve completely in a gallon of water, it just seems like so much. Also, I'm shooting for the highest content possible while still maintaining a good flavor. This is kinda developing in my head a little too...

Questions About Making Cider Mead (Cyser) - 5 gal

Wasn't sure exactly where this thread should go, but I put it here because most of my questions are about honey. I'm making a 5 gallon batch of cyser, hopefully starting it in the next couple days, using a cider Wyeast with an alcohol tolerance of 12%. From everything I've read, it would seem...

What temperature to add yeast for mead? Also other questions.

That's what I really needed to know then. Everything will be room temp, so no heat required to activate the yeast I guess? I'll just pitch it in then and shake it real good.

What temperature to add yeast for mead? Also other questions.

Totally new to this, and my first attempt wasn't good since I used the wrong yeast mostly (still waiting on that one, but not too excited about it). I tried searching the forum but didn't come up with a good answer, sorry if this has already been asked a thousand times. What temp do I add...

And another one...Er, bites the grain?

I'm going to try again with Wyeast dry mead yeast and 3lbs of honey for a 1 gallon fermenter. Waiting on supplies to ship in since all I have is that Turbo stuff. I agree with using proven recipes now, I foolishly thought I could achieve a good brew quicker, since initially my impatience took...

And another one...Er, bites the grain?

Hello, newbie brewer here, and I do mean "newbie". I have only recently started looking into fermenting my own stuff, and just for an idea of exactly how new I am, well, let's just say I tried fermenting cider with turbo yeast for a first try. I later found out that turbo yeast doesn't exactly...
