    keezer condensation

Thanks DayTripper. My keezer is only 5 cubic feet with 4 kegs and 10 pound CO2 when full so thinking one eva and a small computer fan to start. Think I have a few fans from my boys building their computers. Maybe a old phone charger to power?

    keezer condensation

I moped the keezer out yesterday as I have 2 beers almost ready to keg so thought it would be a good time to do so. Cut and assemembled 4 new beer lines. Took the taps and shanks apart..... you name it. Looking to help prevent some mold and condensation . What are some of you using in this case...

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

Mine are 4 days in and lots of krausen and activity. Not nearly as clear as some of the pics I see even during fermentation. It should clear some in a week and I will add geletin in the keg.

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

Hi all Brewed a double batch on this on sunday past. Was a great brew day and timed it missing the -20 coming next weekend!!! Hit 1.045 and was happy with that. I have 2 fermonsters going but one of them needed help. One has 1056 and was working well the next morning and the other had a 1084...

    Oatmeal Stout Yooper's Oatmeal Stout

Going to brew a double batch of this on the weekend. Don't drink stout a lot but should....... it is great beer. I did brew a double choc oatmeal stout once and it was a hit. Question about the black barley. I did not read all the pages!!!! The local shop website shows black malt ( patent). I...

    hop question

Just added the dry hop additions and ran some co2 into fermonsters as I opened the lids. I had blow off tubes in starsan and as I tightened up I let the gas run a few more seconds and could see the bubbles action. I feel better about this now!!! Only shortfall was had no more cascade but used...

    hop question

Hi brewers. I brewed a pale ale on Aug 3. It called for a 3 day dry hop but I was away on a family vacation and only returned last night. Beer is in fermonsters with lids I adapted for closed transfers. I am weary of opening the lids to add hops due to oxidizing the brew. what do you all think...

    1332 yeast

Hi all Brewed a double batch of amber ale 11 days ago. 2 fermonsters sitting in basement bedroom at 18-19 with space heater. The 090 super yeast is done but but leave another week . My 1332 is sitting and has 1.5" of krausen and carmel colored foram still on top. Is this typical of 1332 as I...

    pale ale too malty

I do limit oxygen also with the closed transfers but it could have affected the earlier beers for sure . I will go with 5% crystal next brew and maybe a lighter crystal as noted. Will make up the difference with the 2 row. Thanks all

    pale ale too malty

I do bag hops loose in a good sized perforated bag as I use a plate chiller and try to limit the hop debris in these. In general, 10 % is crystal in the recipes I have been using but I do double batches so this could be 2-3 pounds of crystal in total. Brewing again soon and will try reducing the...

    pale ale too malty

Thanks all for input. Looking for a bit crisper without to much malt so will look at recipe again and additions to water. The hop flavor has been fine as I have been doing closed transfers the past 2 years . Of course by friends lap it up like black labs!!!!!

    pale ale too malty

I typically mash these beers around 149-152 and add more gypsum than CC. The crystal # I don't know as my books and notes are at home. Base malts are pale 2 row. Thanks for replies.

    pale ale too malty

As title suggests, I find some of my pale ales good but not great and I find often they are too malty for my tastes. I do know there are many factors such as mash temp, profiles, yeast , etc but also wonder if there is too much crystal malt as per recipe? I recall reading that the crystal malt...

    oxidation question

Wow! I did not check in for a day and lots of response. Double batch does mean 10 g for me and I am going to stick to that as like many of you sometimes finding the time to brew is a concern. I had a stockpile in my system and hence why there was so much beer around.......... usually not a big...
