    Did I Ruin it?

Tonight I was all set to bottle my BIAB batch of rye Pale ale. I was using a new spigot on my fermenter and it never occurred to me that I should've made sure that my tubing fit the new spigot so I could transfer to my bottling bucket. It turns out that it didn't fit. The newer spigot was...

    Discouraged

Thanks, I think it's a combo of my water (tap) and my equipment. You're right I'll get it.

    Discouraged

All three beers were different styles. An IPA, saison and Belgian red. I haven't made adjustments to my water so that could contribute. The samples I tasted did have a slight trub off taste. But the Belgian which was the most recent was the first with the metallic aroma and flavor.

    Discouraged

I've recently started having problems in my brewing and I'm looking for some ideas. As you all know a lot of time and effort goes into crafting a batch of home brew. So to have it not turn out is very frustrating. I've been brewing for 5 years with the last 2 being BIAB. Up to this point...

    Propane burner issue

So I reconnected the same tank as before with same regulator and it was like night and day. Robust flame boiled in about 25 minutes. Was so hot some of the new paint was burning off which didn't happen before. Not sure what the issue was. I did read on another site that regulators have safety...

    Propane burner issue

I'm having an issue with a new burner I purchased and looking for some ideas. I bought a Concord banjo burner that is supposed to produce 110,000 BTU's. Yesterday I put it together and put 3 gallons of water in my kettle to test the burner out. My old burner was only rated for 40,000 BTU's so...

Inkbird itc-308? $35 gets you wired, 2 stage temp controller.

I've been thinking of purchasing an Inkbird ITC-308 but I'm unclear on somethings even after reading this thread. I currently do not have a fermentation chamber but was thinking of using a plant germination mat as my heat source to keep my wort temp above a minimum level. Then once I hit my...

Cleaning Carboy prior to brew day

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like I should just err on the side of caution even though I'd probably be fine skipping the soak.

Cleaning Carboy prior to brew day

I've been brewing for about three years now and I have always soaked my fermenter in oxyclean the day before I brew as an extra precaution. I then sanitize the day of the brew. I'm starting to think the extra step of soaking may be unnecessary since the fermenter is already clean from the...

    First Time BIAB Question

Thanks Gavin C, Sounds like I don't need to worry about bottle bombs which was my major concern. And yes I used a hydrometer. My grain bill was as follows: 6.6 lbs Pale 2 row .4 lbs Carmel/crystal 60L .4 lbs UK Carastan 30/37 .25 German Carapils I don't recall how long it took to dough in...

    First Time BIAB Question

My yeast was fresh. I bought it from my LHBS the day I brewed and I've never had an issue with ingredients from this shop. As for my temps, I started out around 70 and over the course of the three weeks it cooled to about 67, so nothing drastic. I'm fermenting with a Speidel fermenter so I...

    First Time BIAB Question

Hello, BIAB Newb here I've been brewing extract batches for about 3 years with pretty good results and recently decided to give BIAB a try. I brewed a 4 gal APA batch and was quite pleased when I hit the efficiency (75%) and OG (1.050) of the recipe. This evening I went to bottle the...
