    Great score!

Just thought I'd share my newest score, as I know you guys would appreciate it. I had to buy a replacement for my fermenting fridge 2 days ago as the compressor stopped in the old one. I found an old Whirlpool side-by-side 21 cu/ft fridge in working order on Craigslist for $25, and as luck would...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing some Bitchin' Blonde Ale. 5 gallons of a double blonde ale that should end up around 8%. It'll look like Bud Light, taste awesome and kick like a pissed off mule. :P

Maine Reluctant to sell my keezer, but...

Custom built 3-tap home brew keezer. Not sure if I want to sell it, but I've recently come down with gout and I prefer being able to walk comfortably, so...I think the time has come to part ways with it (with great reluctance and sadness, I might add). Asking $1000 firm for the whole setup. The...

    Double Honey Bock

I have some ingredients hanging around and I was wondering what to do with them, so I'm thinking of brewing a Dopplebock hybrid. (What's the fun if there's no experimentation, eh? ;) ) Anyway, I have 3 lbs. of Pilsen DME, along with some Motueka hops and a Czech Pils yeast, so I figured why not...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing a Smoked Maple Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout tonight. 3 pounds of overcooked maple syrup added to the beginning of the boil, 2oz of Target hops with 9.8% AA, shooting for an OG of about 1.100 or so. We shall see...

    How to use pomegranate?

I just made a gallon of raspberry-pomegranate wine from bottled juice, and it came out great. I added 2 cups of corn sugar in primary, and added a mixture of ½ cup of raisins simmered in ½ cup of the juice for about 5 minutes to use as a yeast nutrient. It made a very flavorful semi-sweet table...

    My first go at brewing

Mixing bleach and vinegar is a bad idea. Toxic chlorine gas is released, which essentially serves as a way to wage chemical warfare on yourself. Many people mix bleach and vinegar, knowing it's dangerous, but either underestimating the risk or else hoping for increased cleaning power. Here's...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed a Mystery Ale today. I'm not really sure what grains went into it, as I was cleaning out some miscellaneous bags from the cabinet and figured I'd use them before they were useless, as they've probably been in there at least 4 months. I >think< it was roughly: ½lb Flaked Oats ½lb Victory...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Just brewed a strong Porter yesterday. The plan is to add cherries in secondary. OG was 1.070, should finish somewhere around 7% if my experience holds true.

    Kegerator setup under $500?

I bought a chest freezer off Craigslist and sourced the rest of the parts to build a collar-style keezer myself. Cost me about $400 for a 2-tap setup.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed a maple porter yesterday. It was intended as a pale ale when I gathered the ingredients, but a coworker/fellow homebrewer gave me a gallon of maple syrup that had been overcooked at the sugar farm, and when he said overcooked, he wasn't kidding. It was probably 180L or so in color, so 6oz...

    Simple collar-style keezer

Still need to wire it and fill the kegs, but it looks pretty good in its new home. :D

    Cheap bottles?

If you lived near southern ME I'd give you a couple cases in need of cleaning/delabeling for nothing.

New Hampshire Gorgeous 6-tap, 10 keg keezer. Nearly solid oak, integrated RPints Display.

I live close enough, but unfortunately don't have anywhere near the funds to support this kind of purchase. One can dream, however. :drunk:

The Best Craft Brewery in Each State?

Being someone who splits their time between ME and NH, I'd have to say their picks for both states are on point. They're both very young breweries, but they're dedicated to making excellent beer, and it shows. They're up against A LOT of stiff competition, as well. Throw a rock in almost any...

BIAB Projects problems with boiling basket

Off-topic, I realize, but Jiminy Christmas did the price of that kettle go up fast! I purchased that same kettle from Amazon in May and it was $34 cheaper!

    Simple collar-style keezer

Sorry it's been awhile since I updated this. Things get in the way of building, much as we might wish otherwise. :) Got a little more done over the past couple of days. Collar is built, adhered to the freezer and the taps are mounted. As you can see from the closeup, I have a spot marked for...

Some pretty epic back yard setups here. I am jelly.

    Simple collar-style keezer

Parts came in to convert the 3 gallon keg from pin lock to ball lock today. Very simple conversion, and I replaced the post o-rings while I was at it, since the originals were pretty shredded. As an aside, after opening the keg for the first time (after depressurizing it, of course...) I came to...
