    first brew on 120v kettle

Just finished my first brew on my electric keggle. Running 2 1500w elements flat out without a controller and it worked great. I BIAB so once my temps were good unplugged them and then back in for the boil. Worked great for a 5 gallon batch. About 35mins from mash to boil. Wish I had done this...

My cord grip is slightly too big for my 14awg wire. Thinking of wrapping some of the outer insulation that ill be stripping off my sjoow cable and securing it with electric tape to make the diameter of my wire a little bigger. Thoughts?

    dual 1500w 120v elements

I have two circuits (a 20amp and 15amp) that I want to use to run 2 1500w elements. Both receptacles are GFCI. Would #14 or #12 wire gauge be more appropriate for my elements? I've been reading what I can but the more I read the more I realize I don't know much about it. I have someone doing...

    BIAB Bag shape

I've been a batch sparge brewer for awhile but I'm moving away from 10G batches and I'm tired of lugging a big cooler by myself and the added work of cleaning it.... so... I bought a nice piece of Voile today and I'm trying to map out the shape to sew it. The easiest is a pillow case shape...

Hold temp high for saison after fermentation complete?

I brewed a saison with the yeast bay saison yeast and it went from 1.056 to 1.006 in 10 days (maybe less) and I think it's done based on predicted attenuation. My question is do I lower the temp now to say 18-20c from 23c (upper range for the yeast) for a couple weeks before I keg or should I...

    what grains to stock?

I'm taking part in a group buy with my local club and I'm just curious what grains I should stock up on to have a well rounded supply? I was thinking some pale malt, a little light and dark crystal, some Munich I would like to be able to make IPA's, Pale Ales, Bitters and the odd Belgian...

    Help with a stir plate

I have a 4 fan controller (was hoping to break up and share with brew buddy) and a 12V fan and old 12v power cord. How does this go together? Can I use the connectors or am I going o have to do a little more work.

    would you keg it?

I brewed an IPA and it stabilized at 1.005 (I like them dry) 5 day ago. I added some dry hops at that time. Question is how long do you guys normally wait until you cold crash and keg? I'm planning to let it force carb over a week or more at 12psi. The hydrometer sample was pretty tasty...

    Do I need more yeast?

I brewed up a batch of IPA and my efficiency was much higher than usual. I ended up with an OG of 1.071.. pushing into the IIPA range. I rehydrated one package of US05 and I'm fermenting at 68. It's a 5 gallon batch... should I look into more yeast or let it ride?

    Nailed it!

I've finally dialled in my system for some reliable results... man that feels good. I thought I would never get it figured out. :ban: The biggest help was an accurate/fast thermometer. It is such a worthy investment and it paid off today. I would recommend the rt600c to anyone...

    Running Thermometer Probe into Fridge

How is everyone running a thermometer probe into their fridge? I have a mini fridge and I want to use an inkbird controller with a small probe. Should I just run it under the rubber seal and accept the small loss of temperature or do you guys seal it up somehow? Just curious what everyone does.

    Almost smash IPA experiments

i decided to try 3 different IPA recipes with the same grain bill (96% 2row and 4% crystal 40) and using Columbus hops to add the majority of bittering and finish with each; amarillo, calypso and simcoe. I'm going to boil the Columbus for 60mins and add each hop at 10,5,0 mins and dry hop...
