I can’t figure out how to edit the post from my phone, but the beer system is sold. Thanks

Texas Electric HERMS (30G kettles) - just needs controller

A price would help wouldn’t it... $1500. If not local to Houston or New Braunfels Texas, buyer would cover shipping. I also have a bunch of components that I can give to the buyer that would help bring the cost down of building a controller. Sorry, was posting multiple places and got carried...

Texas Electric HERMS (30G kettles) - just needs controller

Selling electric HERMS beer brewing system (control panel not included). Includes pumps, hoses and wort chiller in addition to the fully built kettles. Kettles are 30 gallon and I've used the system to brew anywhere from 7 gallon to 20 gallon batches. This is priced at just over half the cost of...

Texas PLC Controlled E-HERM's system for sale

Hello, I've got a PLC controlled E-HERM's system for sale. To build the same system new would be over $9,500. I'm asking $5,000 or best reasonable offer. Will give preference to one buyer for all, but may be willing to sell the 'Other items' listed below separately. I've only done four...

    Fermentor temp control

You're better off with a closed system unless you want really high water bills

    Flow rate using HERMs

I run mine wide open and have not had a stuck mash. The HERMS coil and other fittings/hoses create enough back pressure that it's only flowing at about 2gpm using chugger pumps.

Step control motorized ball valve possible?

Rather than trying to go the route of a modulating valve for flow control, I'm going to get some of the variable speed pumps from ussolarpumps.com. From what I've found for valve options, the pumps will be a less expensive way to go...

    Upside Down Keggles?

Although it probably would still work fine, the paint would act as a small insulator and reduce the heat dissipation

PID Temperature Controller SSR Fan Problem

A Johnson controller isn't going to flip on/off nearly as quickly or frequently. The frequent on/off shifting is where SSR's build up most of the heat.

PID Temperature Controller SSR Fan Problem

+1 on this for two reasons. Turning the fan on/off that frequently will wear it out faster. Also, heat transfer isn't instant, so once the SSR switches off, it is still transferring heat to the heat sink. Having the fan on full time would be better to help dissipate all the heat. You could...

    Need help with heating element

Fwiw. My element active LED also lights up (dimly) when the element is unplugged, but everything works as intended when plugged in

Temp sensor placement in a tee

Setting them up that way creates a little extra back pressure that will slow your flow rate some, but that's usually not an issue. Edit: I was only referring to after the pump above. It shouldn't be enough restriction to hurt having it set up as a 90 before the pump, but I like the better...

At what watt density do grains scorch?

IMO, If you're recirculating during the mash, there shouldn't be any issues with scorching. Scorching typically happens when there's no flow and the heat gets concentrated.

Thanks for posting your test results. What was the total volume of water in this test?

    Fermentation Control panel

Acrylic cut to the size needed and double sided tape. If you want to be fancy get something etched in it so it looks like a badge instead of a plain ole cover

Using wood for a control box.. Smart or Dumb

Man this is a HOT topic... Get it? Who said he was the final arbitrator? He didn't... I think he was merely stating his opinion based on his experience so the OP could make an informed decision. And I believe most people that work with electricity on a daily basis would agree with him due to...
