HowTo: Clean a flask easily without a brush

My reason for using erlenmeyers is the thin and flat bottom that makes them much easier to use on a stirplate.

What happened to The Great HBT Stogie Thread

A nice Don Diego Monarch, smooth, mellow and easy going all the way. A good cigar to sit down and meditate for an hour and a half.

Ours just grabs the roll with her front paws and bites chunks out of it until it's all done.

What happened to The Great HBT Stogie Thread

Doing my first boil in the back yard for this year. With very unstable weather, hail and sunny at the same time.

What happened to The Great HBT Stogie Thread

Yesterday it was just barely warm enough to go outside and sit in the sun on the rocks of a local island here in Helsinki. It did get a chilly towards the end.

What happened to The Great HBT Stogie Thread

Up here cigars cost an arm and a leg. Fortunately, we went to Madrid for our winter holiday trip and I was able to buy a bunch of sticks. It was also nice to just walk around, find a shop and buy something to try, then deciding if it was something worth taking home. I'm pretty new to cigars and...

    Cats

Our Hulda had some trouble with her teeth again. The top canine on her left side had started to move and got on the wrong side of her bottom canine and pushed it off course as well. This caused the tooth to go on top of her cheek and poked a small hole there. We got her to the vet and they...

    Cats

Thank you :) They are, cornish rexes and hairless breeds are especially fond of warm spots since their body temp is higher than normal cats and they lack the insulation. In the winter all our cats spend a lot of time under blankets or on the radiators. Or on my lap under hoodie.

Or these, the front one had to go to the vet today because of a toothache. Turns out she got an infection in the gums after she had some infected teeth removed last time but she's fine now.

How Far Would You Drive To A LHBS?

I'm quite lucky by having one about a 5-minute drive from home and another that opened last year about a 10-minute walk from home. :D

    Cats

Yeti usually always has that face with the only change being in the amount that her eyes are open. :D A bad case of perpetual resting ***** face. We also have an Ukrainian Levkoy with a lot more variation in her facial expressions. Oh and that beer, just tried it yesterday for the first...

    Yeast - viability

The oldest Wyeast lager yeast I have used successfully was 3.5 years old when I put it to use :D Right now i have 1214 on the stirplate that was made in april 2015, I believe.

Tell me about your ferment with no airlock activity...

I made a weizen with a 100% wheat malt last weekend. After pitching yeast in the evening i set the STC-1000 to keep it at 24c (75F). The next morning when I checked there was no airlock activity. Same thing the next day and I started worrying, as I had pitched some older yeast that I had no...

    Salty Liquorice Porter

A little update on this. As time went on, the liquorice note became milder and the beer turned more into a nice regular porter with a smooth liquorice note on the aftertaste. If you want to have the liquorice really dominate the flavor profile, then it would be better to ditch the syrup and use...

    Salty Liquorice Porter

Just tried this yesterday. Nice clear dark body, still could see through it against light. Brown head that disappears quickly but this I believe will change with some aging. On the nose you can still tell that this is a bit green. The taste is quite nice, reminds a lot of a normal porter, that's...
