Beer too Light & Low OG

My bad fellers, I did mis-read it. I thought it was 1.005. I'll let it ride. Thanks for the corrections. I don't need to make a strong 7% kinda beer, but I'd like to if it only meant adding some extra DME, but flavor is the most important thing. Again, thanks for all the advice.

Beer too Light & Low OG

Damn, that's like a non-alcoholic beer. I guess I should just dump it. So, for my next batch, of 5gal, how much DME should I use if I want a beer of somewhere between 6 or 7%? I like the DME better than the liquid. I would be using a wheat yeast, as well as DME, and I would add a packet of...

Beer too Light & Low OG

Right, I know I wouldn't get an OG on it, but I'd like to see a higher reading for higher ABV. I used 6lbs of DME and the volume is 5gal. Out of curiosity, how might I increase the ABV? More DME? Thanks again

Beer too Light & Low OG

Thanks for the responses. Yes, I took the sample off the top, like top inch maybe. I stirred and shook it pretty well before I sampled, but the good stuff may have been lower. I've always sampled that way and never had the same problem. Hopefully I can get a better reading once the primary...

Beer too Light & Low OG

Pic says it all. Supposed to be a Belgium Wheat. I used 6lbs of Wheat DME, & some hops, but my og is so low. The fermentation is taking off nicely, but I don't want some weak, flavorless beer. Any advice, or can someone tell me what I did wrong? First time using DME only, no LME. I put about 1lb...

What's the Difference Between Booster & Nutrient?

I ordered both these, but now I think they might be different kinds of the same thing? I should just add one to my yeast starter?

Fermentation can take 24 to 72 hrs to show visible signs.

I used a yeast packet that was already partially inflated...3 days ago & not even a hint of activity.

    Wyeast arrived swollen

Are these too inflated? I just got a starter "starting kit." Just got em today. I wanna brew tomorrow & Sunday. I haven't made a starter before, but I did by the 1000ml beaker thing with stopper.

    Holding Your Own "Oktoberfest"

Greetings All, my children's school has a father's club that has monthly gatherings. Usually it's poker or something of that sort, but I thought I might hold a lil beer brewing session to show how to brew beer with the goal of encouraging others to try. My end goal is to have enough...

Extract Kits: Why do some have DME & others don't?

I've got 2x3.3lb cans of Muntons Wheat LME and 1lb of Muntons wheat DME. The last belgian wheat beer I made used 2 cans and the lb of DME. Should I use that much again, or is that too much? All the other recipes I've done only use the 2 cans.

Need Help ASAP- Boiling on Stove Top

The kits I've been using have me boiling the extract for an hour. One kit I used had me boil 3.3lbs for 45 min, then add the second extract (hops for an hour). I did a true brew American Wheat that boiled extract for an hour and it tasted like hoegarden, but had a color of 15SRM. Should I add...

Extract Kits: Why do some have DME & others don't?

So I'm trying to build my own version of an extract kit, and from previous kits that I got, with pre-selected ingredients, it seems DME can or doesn't have to go into a recipe. My questions are: What does DME add to a recipe When is it a bad time to use DME Do/how I adjust a recipe if I add...

...and lesson learned. Fermentation can take up to 72 hours to show. 48 hrs later (one on the left).

Fermentation can take 24 to 72 hrs to show visible signs.

Thanks G Swill. I assume since the pack did inflate some, it's working, just slowly. Here's the juice Looks like a huge pitcher of sun tea

Fermentation can take 24 to 72 hrs to show visible signs.

I know it takes up to 72hr, but, now that it's been 24hr and my beer looks flatter than a tweaker's butt, I'm questioning when I pitched the yeast. I brewed a Belgium witbier extract kit from NB, but I didn't know about smacking my pack days in advance of brewing, so I smacked it and it did...

How Do I Add a Spice Flavor?

Can I get a lil' less pumpkin and a lil' more spice? The spice, in the beer I'm trying to come close to, had more of a strong spice and weak pumpkin flavor.

How Do I Add Coriander & Orange Peels?

Nah brah', I'm doing a Belgium wheat. Orangier the better; I'm looking for a tangerine (lost coast brewing) type flava'.

How Do I Add a Spice Flavor?

Do I just buy some pumpkin pie spice at the grocery store, and throw in last few min of boil? What would give the spice taste without pumpkin flavor?
