    Residual Alkalinity - Too low?

Thanks ajdelange - I'll carry on with what I have then.

    Residual Alkalinity - Too low?

Residual Alkalinity, how low is too low? When I try and get into the ~5.4 pH range with pale beers my residual alkalinity is driven way down. I've read most of the guide lines but having trouble figuring out if RA as low as 300 is problematic? Thanks!

Bad efficiency, low SG , top-up with additional wort?

I could do a 20 minute boil with the DME and throw in some of my dry hop..? :D I'll think about doing this tonight but I'll probably keep it the way it is - session IPA.

Bad efficiency, low SG , top-up with additional wort?

Thanks for the info, I'll need to read this over a few times to make sense of it - and yes I have 5 gallons. I'd like to try this using the least amount of water as possible as I don't want to reduce my hop bitterness, flavor and aroma.

Bad efficiency, low SG , top-up with additional wort?

OG is 1.050 and I'd like to get this up to 1.060. I got a lot of hop trub in this brew so if I racked it off into another car boy I could easily add a couple more liters of water/wort.

Bad efficiency, low SG , top-up with additional wort?

I brewed an Galaxy/Pacifica IPA last night and ended up with 55% efficiency (BIAB) and this 80 IBU will only come in at an estimated 5.2%. I've did enough reading on this after the brew and it could have also been a miscalculation on my part, either way I will be troubleshooting this later...

    Keezer probe method setup

Going to try the same thing - I have some bubble wrap insulation leftover from when I insulated one of my kettles. Hopefully this will reduce the frequency of my kegerator turning on.

    Strong Bitter The Bitter Lawyer

That explains why it looks sooooo dark. Looks like you got your own recipe now ;)

    First SMaSH... Thoughts?

That 5 min addition IBU calculation seems a little off.

How long can this stay in primary?

Thanks for all the quick responses. I guess this will be a good test for me as I've never had anything in primary for longer than 2 1/2 weeks. Maybe it will improve my beer :)

How long can this stay in primary?

I brewed a batch this weekend not thinking I'm leaving for vacation on the 12th. I won't be returning from vacation until the 19th and really need to dry hop this beer. How long can I keep this in primary on the yeast? This is a very hoppy pale ale. With my plans to dry hop this and cold crash...

    CO2 gauge - stuck at 12 PSI

Hey, Just got my first kegging setup - was setting **** up (didn't really know what I was doing) and turned on my CO2 with the regulator cranked. It made some weird spitting noises and now the gauge reads 12 PSI after removing it from the CO2 tank. What have I done? Did I ruin the...

Is there an issue with mashing for 75-90 min

The mill at my LHBS is self-serve and is hand driven. I'd rather just buy the extra grain then double crush 10# of grain. There is another store which I visit occasionally - I'll have them double crush the next time I'm there.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Enable SSH on the RPi and get a terminal client like Putty for your desktop. Check this out for enabling SSH using raspi-config - you can also set a password using raspi-config if you want. http://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/remote-access/ssh/

Is there an issue with mashing for 75-90 min

I need a finer crush - my efficiency has been terrible since starting AG BIAB (around 55%). I have a brew planned this weekend which the grain bill has been adjusted to match my efficiency. I think I'll try the longer 90 minute mash and see what I get. Its a hoppy pale ale so if I come in over...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Ordered a bag of Dupont jumpers and a couple shift registers but I'm not sure what I need for resistors and capacitors. The only thing I have is 4.7k Resistors from the original build without a LCD. I searched through the thread somewhat and BrewPi's site but couldn't find anything.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by one wire probes. I'm currently using DS18B20 Sensors which have 3 wires - can I solder it to these pins to make a pluggable interface?

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. I've never really played with electronics like this so the terminology is new to me. That being said there's one other thing I'd like to do with my setup to keep it neat and clean as possible. I'm looking to install inputs on the enclosure...
