    Electric brewing setup idea

Just throwing this out there. For those with an electric stove, how about making a connector you could plug into the electric element plug and use it to run an immersion element in the kettle? Pro's and con's?

    complaint on bargain fittings (fixed!)

Owner of Bargain Fittings here. I apologize again for the error on the order! I do seem to have an issue with o-rings. One of my concerns is placement of them so they don't get lost in the packaging. From this point on I will print out packing slips and check off the order contents...

Storing Star San solution in a plastic bucket?

I had the same experience last month. I wondered why my bench was all wet in the garage and sure enough the seam had sprung a leak. Weird.

Hole Saw Set...OK for keggle drill?

The harbor freight step bits work fine. I've drilled about 10 holes with mine through stainless kegs and its still sharp enough to drill more. I just have a spray bottle with water and have wife or friends spritz the hole as I cut it. Slow down the drill, apply pressure and keep the bit...

Does anyone use a Vintage bottle capper?

I've got that same one. Just keep watching and you will pick one up on ebay for less than $15.00 with shipping. It works great on everything except the tallest and shortest of bottles. The tiny bottles I just use a small block of wood under it to get the pinch on em :)

    Solid Ice Recirculation Chiller

You will quickly melt a hole right through the end you pump back too. Just a data point. Even room temp water will melt a block of ice quickly.

    conflicting advice

The rule of thumb is to make the starter at room temp if you are going to chill and decant off the beer. I chill my wort and pitch a couple degrees below my fermentation temp. I've made lager starters at the same temp as the final beer but it takes much longer for the yeast to multiply.

    Dry yeast vs. liquid

My personal experience. SafAle S-04: - My house yeast for bitters, mild and brown ales. This is a fruity yeast but it can be moderated down if you ferment it at 66-67. SafAle S-33 - no real experience with this. SafAle US 05 American Ale: Very good american ale yeast. Works fine in...

CO2 refills in North Dallas area

koetterfire are great people. The ones in the front office are not the ones to speak too though. If you go, call ahead to be sure one of the guys is working the back and just pull around there. Don't bother to go in the front door. Might want to bring cash as it makes it easier I think...

    Regulator issues

Try to tighten it just a bit and then back it off the other way. The theory is it will spread the threads a bit and make it easier to loosen.

40 Qt vs 60 Qt pot for 5 Gal batches

Immersion chiller coils might not be covered with a deeper pot and small volume

    Ic Score!!

Barkeepers Friend does wonders on copper. Not much scrubbing involved. An overnight soak in dilute starsan will strip it to bare metal too.

Very old GE Food Freezer, what to do with???

I bet those shelve clips would come apart pretty easy. Remove the shelves and carefully bend them down against the back of the wall. Mount an AC fan inside on the same circuit as your temperature controller so it blows air around the back whenever the compressor cycles. What do you have to...

    1/2" Valve to Nipple question

Even with a close nipple (fully threaded) you might need a washer to allow the nipple to tighten fully on both sides of the keg wall. Pipe threads are tapered. If you look at them closely they get smaller towards the tip of the nipple. They are designed to have only a portion of usable...
