I Want to Give My Porter........

As far as I know making coffee can be somewhat like making beer. If you boil the beans to long the water will leech flavors that you don't want. I'm still new to beer making, but it seems to me if you boil the coffee beans with the rest of the grains you have a higher chance of getting some of...

    Beer Surplus

To much is always better than not enough. I'm fermenting my second batch now, so I'm still a ways off from building my beer empire. :D

Who has a good Porter recipe?

I have been searching for a good basic porter recipe while listening to a Son Volt album. Seems I have found the right thread. :D Instead of using the brown sugar and honey I was going to just add some 22 oz. of Amber DME. Also using Target (bitter) and Golding (aroma) hops.

    Transporting a fermenter after pitching.

Some brew friends and I wanted to get a little brew on this Saturday. There are several that want to brew including myself. We picked a central location which leads me to the question I have. Is transporting a fermenter of beer within a couple of hours after pitching the yeast harmful...

    My SWMBO is pretty sweet

This weekend I was given some cool bottle labels for my first brew from my SWMBO. They have the brew date, bottle date, a place to write in some info., and my ugly mug on the front.

    Any Musicians out there?

Electric bass player here. Funky grooves fill my pocket. Also play a little piano and some six-string if it's acoustic. Played in some bands, but these days it is all about the day job.

    Another howdy from NC.

Well, I'm not to far from that area. I don't know if there are others around, but I would assume so. I'm new to the wonders of home brew, but have some buddies. Maybe we can get something going a little closer to home. My first attempt went off without a hitch. It's in the spare...

    Another howdy from NC.

I inhabit the mighty town of Coats. Which is a short 20 minute ride from Fuquay Varina. I can't wait to get started and after looking around a bit, its a real nice place you've got here.
