Picked 50lbs of Concord grapes from some old vines at my folks place. I've made wine from juice concentrates but never from fruit. What steps do I need to take to get to secondary? Here's what I've got so far. Crush fruit 6lb per gallon, add water to volume and campden, sugar to...

BBQ'rs, Smokers, Lend me your Rubs!

The missus surprised me with the 18.5" Weber Smokey Mountain smoker because she is AWESOME and is tired of me complaining about the Brinkmann and how hard it is to smoke for 8+ hours on. Helps that her favorite is pulled pork... ;) Needless to say, I'll be smoking up quite a bit of food in the...

Happy Father's Day "Nottingham" Pizza Party

Chief Bottlewasher surprised me with a pizza peel for Father's Day. Surprised, because we don't exchange gifts on made up holidays. I use pizza stones but built the pizzas on cheap, thin aluminum cookie sheets and put those on the stones. Had decent browning on the bottom of the pies but no...

    Amarillo (by Morning) IPA

Amarillo's on my mind This is a simple IPA that is pleasing for hop heads while still being approachable to new craft brew and homebrew drinkers. Named Amarillo by Morning IPA because of the use of Amarillo hops for flavor/aroma and was brewed under influence of George Strait's Greatest...

Ooops! OR How not to use a degassing whip

Just a quick note. Don't use your wine degasser for the first time in a topped up 5G carboy on high. Start slowly. Wine holds A LOT of CO2 and it comes out quick when you blast that whip in the carboy. And the wine comes out of the carboy quick too. :(

Watch this video and then answer the question: Doesn't Blago sound like he's trying to ape Johnny Carson's or a bit of Reagan's delivery when he's giving the first section of this speech?
