It's been a year sense did my last brew. I am in the process of starting a in chapter in my life after 20yrs of service. Got frustrated with filling out application online so I decided the other day to pay my local homebrew shop a visit and get a kit. So today I am making a Cream Ale it's what...
It's been almost 6 wks now. Got the itch to brew this weekend just don't have the time. Got a Porter bottled and honey brown ale also. Thinking making a cream ale again the wife liked that one.
My porter taste like a hard liquer almost, is this normal? I take readings but don't record...
I made a Porter over 2 wks ago. This past weekend I transfered it to my secondary. Fermentation seems to have stopped for now have seen a bubble for awhile, can I bottle this weekend or let it rest another week?
Now that you got your hydrometer your brews should get better. I am by know means a pro at this, as I have only brewed 2 batches by myself and one batch in a class. I would say stick with kits for now maybe got with a partial mash until you have the basics down.
As far a gear go get a 2nd...
It's been almost 3 weeks sense the brew date. Fermented for a week and has been bottled almost 2 weeks now. Excelent carbonation I think, alcohol content may not be as high as it should be. I will check that on the next bottle I open. Has good color overall a sucess :ban:
Now I gotta watch...
Got it, I will wait a few weeks after fermentation before I bottle. What part of Washington are you from? I was stationed a Bangor for alittle while. Got my brewing kit from Olympic of Homebrew in Bremerton.
My house temp was 75 and the fishtank thermomter was reading 75/74 on the carboy. I placed wet towels on the carboy. I got the temp back down to 73 after about 4 hours or so. I plan racking to a second fermentor after the fermentation is complete to let it settle out. I think it will turn out...
My porter is fermenting really good now. I got home from work and the temp in my house was 75. I have placed semifrozen towels around the carboy to help bring down the temp.. If the temp gets above 75 will this kill my batch or what?
Making my 2nd batch today. Still waiting for the cream ale to carbonate. It's only been the bottle for a week now. I tried one I put in the fridge and it had very little carbonation, but still was good. Didn't taste like cat piss so I gues that a good thing.
Now I'm in the process of making a...
Update, decide not to tranfer to a second stage, bottled instead. My alchol content should between 3 & 4% which I think is alittle weak, but should make for a great drink after a hot day outside working. Going to try my first bottle in a few days.
The fermentation process has slowed down to a burp about every 2 minutes. Think I will transfer to my secondary for another week and then bottle to see if it clears up anymore. My next one my be a porter and then another stout.
Made my first batch in almost 3 years today. Don't remmeber the numbers but it's pretty close to what the brew shop had written down. Hope it turns out good like my first homebrew.
