    All Citra DIPA

Been in the bottle for 10 days now. Had a good color. Was hoping for a stronger aroma, but we'll see how the final product is. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    All Citra DIPA

Technically you're right. Magnum fur bittering. Long Citra boils can lead to a "catty" taste and loss of Citra's standard favors. Or so they say. Never tried it myself. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    All Citra DIPA

Added the dry hops last night. Wort has a great aroma and has lightened in color a bit. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    All Citra DIPA

Brewed last night. Everything went well. Ended up adding the 30 minute addition at 5 minutes, so there was 2 oz added at that point. OG was a tad lower than expected, not too concerned. My only "complaint" is the wort is darker than expected. As I usually do, I waited until the last few...

    All Citra DIPA

Good to hear. If I don't have the aroma I'm hoping for, I will add an oz to my post boil ghetto whirlpool. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    All Citra DIPA

Glad to hear it was good. Yes the more research I do, the more it seems that people add Citra very late. Thinking I'm gonna change the 30 minute addition to the 5 minute mark.

    All Citra DIPA

Hmm. Sorry to hear that. Yes I like to use multiple hop varieties as well. But I made an all Citra American Pale Ale and it was my best batch so far. Hope I can replicate that with this "bigger version". Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    All Citra DIPA

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I know it seems a bit high for the dry hops but I never seem to get the desired hop aroma, so I'm going higher than usual. I think I'll move that 30 minute down to .5 oz and add the other .5 at 5 minutes. Thanks again for the suggestions. Sent from my...

    All Citra DIPA

Already ordered all my supplies, guess I should have done this a few days ago :cross:. But anyway, comments and/or suggestions are appreciated. I made an all Citra APA with these same ingredients (less, obviously) and it was my best batch so far. Batch size : 4 Gallons Fermentables: 4...

    Extract Arrogant Bastard clonish

Nice. Normal for a strong ale to take a while. My 10.1% strong ale has been bottled for 7+ weeks, and still tastes a little young.

    I'm concerned about my IPA

Yes, this is the thing to do. On your next batch, when you transfer your wort to your fermenting bucket, pour it through a strainer. That will filter out the hops, as well as helping to airate the wort. There are some that will advise against this, but it's always worked for me.

    Citra IPA recipe feedback

Looks like a good recipe, I might try something similar for my Citra DIPA, since you said this turned out pretty good. I made a Citra APA which turned out excellent. I added the dry hops towards the end of primary fermentation. Some say that adding the dry hops during fermentation isn't...

To secondary, or not to secondary

I personally don't use a secondary unless I'm making a fruit beer. There's absolutely nothing wrong with racking to a secondary, I just feel that the risk of infection from transferring is larger than any positive you'd get from doing so. Just my opinion, and again, I don't think there's a...

    What's in your fermenter(s)?

Just transferred my Mango/Pineapple IPA to secondary. Going well so far.

Mango/Pineapple IPA. Still in primary, will rack on top of the fruit in secondary.

    Mosaic for Bittering?
