    Did I kill my brew?

Update: I'm diabetic so I don't go through my beer quickly. I drank one case and stashed the other. I waited until Christmas to open the last case and OH MY WORD, that was well worth the wait. It was the best I've made to date! It tastes almost identical to Irish Death. A great...

    Did I kill my brew?

Ok.. I let it ferment for a couple weeks, took a gravity reading. The SG was exactly what the box plans said it should be. So, I cleaned/sanitized my bottling equipment and bottled away. - (to have some fun, I used old Guinness bottles) I let it carb for 2 weeks, and the beer is nothing...

    Did I kill my brew?

Update: I checked on the brew last night when I got home - it is, in fact, bubbling. It's just slowed down to about 1 bubble every 50 seconds or so.

    Did I kill my brew?

I'm good with waiting. I don't get impatient with my brews. I've just never had this happen before and didn't know if I screwed up. My carboy is glass, so I can see everything I want to see. I'll wait 10 days, test and then test again 3 days later as I normally do. Thank you very much for...

    Did I kill my brew?

Copy that... I'm patient... I'll give it some time

    Did I kill my brew?

KepowOb: It has been almost 3 days... 2 full days when I made my discovery. kh54s10: I think this will become my new "airlock" Homercidal and frazier - thanks for the explanation...being relatively new at this, I wasn't sure and you guys really set my mind at ease. I'll just assume...

    Did I kill my brew?

Should I check the gravity? I actually forgot to check in before I pitched... but I know what the readings should be..

    Did I kill my brew?

On Father's Day I started a kit Dry Irish Stout. Everything went great, and I put my carboy into my closet at 64˚. I've been busy, and a couple days went by - last night I decided to check on the brew and found that it had clogged the airlock and ejaculated some beer (not a lot). I took...

    Party Pig kegs

So... I could carb in a keg, and then add to the pig? This is sounding brilliant to me! So, what's a beer gun?

    Party Pig kegs

I moved them to a room that seemed pretty warm. We have a large 1/2 bath downstairs that seemed to be getting extra heat last night. Hopefully it'll be consistent. But, I doubt it'll get any colder than the rest of the house if people leave the door open.. Anything is possible with a 6...

    Party Pig kegs

The seal is great... I don't see a problem there... Getting up to 70 degrees might be difficult. Hmmmm. Have to put my thinking cap on...

    Party Pig kegs

Ok, so I decided to buy a couple Party Pigs. In case you aren't familiar with the product, a Party Pig is a self contained beer packaging /dispensing system. It's approximately 2.25 gallons. It uses a pressure pouch which inflates to a constant 15-20 pounds per square inch of pressure and...

How long does beer take to carbonate?

I've been using Star-San exactly as directed on the package. So far I haven't had any issues with off-taste. Still - if you have the means to use boiling water, there's no reason it won't work for you - and as pointed out, no chemicals. Brew On :tank:

How long does beer take to carbonate?

Okay - I'm pretty new. I have my first batch in bottles, and I just racked my second batch over tonight and added my dry hops - so far both batches taste great. My first batch I made with the help of a friend, and we didn't really do anything in the way of measurements. This batch is a...

    First Brew!!

Indeed! I don't have a wort chiller yet, and since I'm using a glass fermenter I just put it outside. Hopefully it'll reach 60 degrees by morning - keeping it there might be another trick altogether... Might have to move it to the barn and see where it settles..

    Intro/Advice request from Washington state.

 Time to say hello to a new group of friends! I'm a 44 year old husband with 3 grown boys and a 5 year old daughter. We live on a small farm(ish) plot with 2 horses, chickens, dogs, cats and some wild animals that wander through the forest area that backs up to our place. I'm an...
