    High temp Silicone Bumpers

I don't have the silicone yet. It's a propane setup and I couldn't imagine it getting hotter than 500 degrees F since it only take about 212 degrees F to boil wort. Yes the pots would be a bit hotter but I doubt twice as hot. I was really hoping there would be some stick on pads available but...

    High temp Silicone Bumpers

You mean just put a few dots or blobs of RTV silicone around the stand?

    High temp Silicone Bumpers

I can't seem to find any anywhere and have done numerous searches. I'd like to put some silicone pads on my brew sculpture to keep my pots from sliding around as well as keep them from scratching up the stand but I can't find anything high temp. Anyone have a source for these or recommend an...

    New kegs or new CO2?

Thanks everyone for the great advice. Plan on picking up regulator and fittings from Amazon with the gift card and sleuthing out tanks and kegs. Other than wrenches, hoses etc. are there other things I should look at finding? What's the best way to keep everything clean?

    New kegs or new CO2?

Good advice but I'm trying to use a $200 Amazon gift card so buying everything used wouldn't allow me to do that. With that said, I'll probably look into getting a higher quality regulator like these...

    New kegs or new CO2?

Okay so I'm now looking at saving up a little extra $$ are there any specific brands you would recommend/stay away from and why? What about ColdTower or Taprite for regulators

    New kegs or new CO2?

Thanks guys, that's what I was hoping to hear. Going to tak another look at the systems available without the kegs and tanks and see what I can come up with. Do most of you use an old refrigerator with a through the door tap or is there any advantage to using a hose end nozzle?

    New kegs or new CO2?

My budget is right around $300 and I'm looking at getting into kegging since my batch size is going up to 15 gallons. I'd like to keg 10 gallons and bottle 5 so that I can share my bottle with friends so I'm looking at a 2 keg system. I've got a $200 gift certificate from Amazon and was...

Need help reading a Ward Labs Report for Northern KY

Just got this today. I'm running a whole house filter and take the water before it get's softened so it's as close to where it comes in the house as possible. pH - 7.5 Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) Est, ppm - 199 Electrical Conductivity, mmho/cm - 0.33 Cations / Anions, me/L - 3.4 / 3.1...

How do you mount your Ball Valves?

I've actually used a lot of the Brewhardware.com valves and fittings to build my HERMs system so I should probably start a build thread to load some pictures.

How do you mount your Ball Valves?

I ended up ordering two kinds of clamps from McMaster Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com/#loop-pipe-hangers/=xglzar And http://www.mcmaster.com/#loop-pipe-hangers/=xglztn In the 1-1/2" size. Both will work but the first link (metal) brackets will be much sturdier. They come 10 to a...

New take on dimpling, silver solder bulkheads?

I wish I could take credit for bending that coil but it's the JaDed HERMs coil they sell. I had them add a little extra length onto the inlet and outlet tubes so that I could bend those upwards toward the lid and maintain the orientation as they are designed to use the standard mount through the...

New take on dimpling, silver solder bulkheads?

Just finished putting together my lid mounted HERMs unit today. Turned out really nice. Had to order another $130 worth of hardware today because I didn't figure right.

How do you mount your Ball Valves?

That's exactly what I'm trying to do. I am using all three outlets. it's part of a HERMs setup and I need the use of all three ports and I'll need to be able to mount the valve on my stand since they wont be mounted directly to my kettles or mash tun.

How do you mount your Ball Valves?

Did some searches but couldn't find anything relevant as I'd like to mount my ball valves to my brew sculpture. I'm using these 3 way 1/2 inch NPT Ball Valves from Brewhardware.com There are 4 holes directly under the handle but no other mounting points. Are there any purchasable brackets...

The Cost of Building a HERMs System

Had to laugh at that one because I'm sure a lot of us have had that reaction. And thanks about the fire, insurance is paying for most of what I lost and because I'm literally starting from scratch and not just upgrading, I'm noticing the costs a lot more. I considered (and may still) put...

The Cost of Building a HERMs System

I checked that thread out and it's misleading. The chugger pump and 3-piece ball valve fittings alone in his system cost more $200 so a $50 system it's not.

The Cost of Building a HERMs System

I see a lot of really low costs in here and I'm assuming most of you are talking about converting a system where you already have most of the parts? I'm also talking 10-15 gallon batch size not 3-5 gallon which makes a huge difference. The reason my cost is so hi is because I lost everything in...
