    Goose Island 312 Clone Discussion

My guess is that it would be a different yeast for bottling.

It's pretty close, but better IMO. A lot more to it. If you change the ratios to get it back down to 4.7%, it should be lighter and pretty exact.

    Goose Island Harvest Ale

Can't wait to hear how this works. I was wondering if anyone picked up a hint of biscuit? Might just be the MO though. I bet I'll try this one over the winter when it's off the shelves.

    Goose Island 312 Clone Discussion

I think an 80/20 of pale and torrified wheat was dead on for me. I'm doing a 10 gal batch this Friday. 20lb pale 5lb torrified Gives me a SRM of 5.6 1oz of liberty and 2 oz cascade spread throughout to hit the ibu's (17.4) London ESB 1968 for 5 gal The other 5 gal I'm adding 5lbs of fresh...

Heavily Researched Fat Tire Clone Grain Bill/hop Schedule what yeast?

Great thread. I'll be doing it for my first AG batch! http://hopville.com/recipe/618409/american-amber-ale-recipes/fat-tire-clone

    Manifold Opinion

Just finished my CPVC manifold for my first AG brew. I'm looking for feedback, positive or negative, anything that might help me from screwing up my first AG batch. Holes are on the bottom. Tried to go by Palmer's recommendations.

This might be close to a true extract clone. http://hopville.com/recipe/601953/american-wheat-or-rye-beer-recipes/815-suburban-wheat-2011-04-06-version

    Goose Island 312 Clone Discussion

I'm brewing this on Tue. 80/20 DME to torrified wheat. Cascade and liberty, 17.4 IBU's. I'm boosting the OG and using the London ESB yeast (starter going now). Hopefully it will be a close to 312 only 6.3%. I'll report back...

    Starter vessel question

I made 2, 2l starters. One has yeast made 1/12/11 which Mr Malty says is 67% viable - it was pretty chunky pouring it out. The other has yeast made 2/2/11 which is 82% viable. Based on my new yeast knowledge - this is my first starter, I'm pretty sure this will cover my 1.090 Imperial IPA. I...

    Starter vessel question

According to Mr. Malty, I need to make a 3.3l starter for my brewday this Sunday. I will be making the starter tonight with two packs of 1968 London. No stir plate, so int shaking. My question is about what vessel to use. 3.3l is almost a gallon, so I know a 1gal jug is too small. Can I...

    How much should i boil?

Does boiling less water affect your IBU's? I was using the Hopville calculator and my IBUs for a 5 gal boil was around 100 but dropped to 58 when I told it a 2.5 gal boil.

    Goose Island 312 Clone Discussion

I have talked my brother into getting into brewing so we will start with an extract for his first. Since 312 is the first beer he likes that is not High Life, I thought we would start with a clone of that. I tried to make an extract recipe based on the updated all grain recipe from page 1...

    Aluminum vs. Stainless

I was reading on someone’s site that they just bought the turkey fryer setup from Wal-Mart. I was confused because I thought aluminum was bad to use for home brewing – something about pores in the metal that bacteria can hide in or something. When I started brewing I spent the money for a good...

    What NOT to do...

Thanks for the advice. I prefer Harp bottles. I also bought the 24oz bottles. It takes less time to bottle, and when am I only going to drink 12oz of homebrew? Good Luck!

    Unusual Gravity

Just an update for everyone. I took the FG which was 1.011. That meas the ABV is something like 1.47. I cant belive it could be that low with all the sugar I used. My fingers are crossed that my hydrometer is shot, otherwise I might be crynig in my beer! Thanks to all who posted.
