    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing a Belgian dubbel as we speak!

Didn't read enough about using Oxyclean

I soaked it in regular water for about two days and dried it. Smell is all gone. Thanks guys!

Didn't read enough about using Oxyclean

Thanks. I don't have bleach that is new right now so I am soaking in plain water for now.

Didn't read enough about using Oxyclean

Okay so I read about using oxyclean to clean fermenters. I had a tub at home and used about two scoops and let it sit for about 24 hrs. Then rinsed three times to make sure and get out any residue. Problem is I didn't read up enough and used the kind with the blue flecks. I now notice a weird...

Brown sugar addition to Smashing Pumpkin Ale

So I am brewing up a NB extract kit of their Smashing Pumpkin Ale. I am thinking of adding some brown sugar. Should I add it at the beginning or end of the boil. I was thinking about 10 min before flameout.

    Caribou Slobber fermentation time

I had the same experience. Primary was done in five to six days. I actually just bottled a batch of this tonight after two weeks. My FG was set and it tasted very nice. I figure with some bottle conditioning it will get even better.

    First brew in the fermenter!

Just a quick update. I checked my gravity yesterday and looks like at day 12 I'm at a FG of 1011. Tasted pretty decent as well. Sort of a like Newcastle with a bit more of a hop punch. Letting it come to room temp which in my pantry is about 68 degrees. Fairly happy with my first brew so far.

    What are you drinking now?

Right on. I respect your opinion. It's just not for me. A bold flavor profile for sure just not my thing. Cheers!

    What are you drinking now?

Not a bad idea. Ill post results as long as I'm no too drunk. Haha.

    What are you drinking now?

Yeah so I totally agree on everyone's opinions on Southern Tier's Creme Brûlée stout. Way too sweet. That is a lot coming from me. I enjoy a good sweet stout, but this thing is ridiculous. It does not even smell like beer. It smells like vanilla cake. Not good. Going to finish it though. At 10$...

    Okay Noob Question

Thanks everyone. Ill go ahead and pop the grains in the freezer once I get them just to be safe. I'm pretty excited to brew this one up. Seeing as pumpkin ales are my favorite of all seasonal brews. Plus I need something to keep my mind off of the caribou in the fermenter.

    Okay Noob Question

Thanks. I knew to refrigerate the yeast right away, but I did not know to refrigerate the hops. Thanks!

    Okay Noob Question

Just Purchased a NB Smashing Pumpkin Kit. I don't plan on brewing for at least a week or two. Possibly three. Do I need to refrigerate the LME and Steeping Grains? The grains come pre crushed. Thanks in advance!

    First brew in the fermenter!

I actually took a gravity reading before reading this. Oops. Looks like after four days I'm at 1020/1019 from an OG of 1051. I'm going to let it sit for at least another 2 to 3 weeks then ramp temps up a bit to clean things up. I'm sitting at a stable 64-66 in the fermenter, so I thought maybe...

    First brew in the fermenter!

Yeah I have read there is really no need which is good since its one less step and less room for contamination.

    First brew in the fermenter!

Thanks man. I can see where this will become addictive.
