    Transporting pellet hops

Probably a stupid question but I'll ask anyways. I vacuum sealed a pound of hop pellets into 1oz packages for my brother yesterday. We are going camping/hunting this weekend, so I plan on bringing them in my cooler(currently in the freezer) to him to bring home. Anyone see a problem with the...

    Beersmith efficiency question.

My brew system consist of two keggles and a 10 gallon cooler with false bottom for mash. I always batch sparge. I am consistently low on OG by about .08 to .09. My beersmith system efficiency is set at 72%. Can I just lower my efficiency on my equipment profile to make up for my low OG? Any...

    Question about my first starter

I made my first yeast starter today for an IPA I'm brewing tomorrow. OG is. 1.069,so I made a 2L starter with 200 grams of light DME. Apparently I boiled away more than I anticipated because I have 1750ml stirring away on my stir plate. 1750ml should be fine, right? I figure it's better than...

Heater in fermentation chamber affecting beer??

Maybe a stupid question but..... I have a chest freezer controlled by a stc-1000 with a paint can heater. The freezer is in my laundry room inside the house. Would the constant cooling then heating affect the wort? The more I've read, I don't think I even need a heater with the freezer being...

    Beersmith profile question

I use two converted kegs ( one for HLT and the other for boil keggle) and a 10 gallon Rubbermaid cooler for mash. That option wasn't available on my Beersmith for Kindle. Need gas line advice for my brew stand.

This has probably been asked before but I can't seem to find a solid answer. I'm going to run 1/2" blk pipe on my stand to 1/2" gas valves. This is where your advice is needed. I have two BG14 burners that have 3/8" flare connections on the orifices. I'm planning on running Brasscraft flex hose...

To powder coat brew stand or not?

I've just recently finished my brew stand build (may weld in some vertical supports) and I'm debating on getting it powder coated or just painting it with high temp grill paint. I have guy that will powder coat it for less than a $100 but he is concerned with temperatures over 500, the powder...

Rehydrating dry yeast causing fermentation lag?

I have always just sprinkled my dry yeast into my wort, gave the carboy a shake and left it. On my last two batches I rehydrated per yeast instructions. My first one was with nottingham yeast. I set my fermentation chamber temp to around 66 degrees and after 72 hours no activity. I turned up the...
