First recipe attempt - Bigrock Traditional Ale clone

Like the title says, I'm trying to put together a Bigrock Traditional Ale clone (or something equally tasty...). Based on the information provided at http://bigrockbeer.com/beer/traditional-ale I've come up with the following: 9lb Canadian Pale 2-row 2lb Crystal 80 .15lb Black malt...

STC-1000 Wiring For Danby Mini Fridge

One of those wires I believe to be the lead to the door light. I know for a fact that only one of them is hot, so I just added 2 wires maretted to those original 2 and ran them to the points on the controller.

STC-1000 Wiring For Danby Mini Fridge

I did it because the factory thermostat would only get me down to about 43 degrees. This is way cooler, better looking, and controllable!

STC-1000 Wiring For Danby Mini Fridge

Bumping this because it helped me dp the same thing. Follow the directions above, marrette or crimp two additional leads onto the 2 blacks, and it's easy as pie. I used an oscillating tool to cut out the thermostat housing to fit the stc - I had to part of the screw channels out to make...

Building a jockey box & tap into your kitchen fridge

Wouldn't the chiller itself act as extra beer line? The coil itself is 50 feet that the beer is passing through... Not sure how much more beer line you'd need. Probably 5 or 6 feet to get it from the keg to the coil, and another 3 or 4 feet from the coil to the tap would give you 60 feet of...

Building a jockey box & tap into your kitchen fridge

Good day I was pondering the viability of installing a jockey box coil in a tub of water in a standard kitchen fridge with a tap on the door, so as to be able to be able to continue using the fridge for adult purposes, like food and condiments. Storing the keg and co2 bottle outside the...

I've got munich, but no vienna. Do you think I could split the Vienna requirement with half 2-row and half Munich? -Scott

Beginner to beer brewing at home [initial questions]

I see you're using torontobrewing - also check out Ontariobeerkegs.com, I'm in AB and they are still my supplier of choice.

    Stuck Before I Start

Do you already have a meat thermometer for your kitchen? If so, you can use that for a while (provided it's reasonably accurate). I have a digital probe-type meat thermometer, and I just float the probe in my water by poking it through a tupperware lid. That might save you a few bucks to...

All my BIAB brews taste like wheat beers?

No, I don't have any sort of temperature control. My last batch was done in the peak of summer in my laundry room, so fermentation temp is the most likely issue. Now that things have cooled off, and I"ll run the swamp cooler method next time around and see how we do. Thanks for all the input...

All my BIAB brews taste like wheat beers?

Evenin guys Recently got into AG BIAB. After some fussing around and sorting out of equipment, I've made 3 recipes, all quite similar, and they all have the same very distinct flavour. As a total newb, I figured it was simply the 2-row that I tasted, but apparently not. My dad took a...

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

The one on the right. It's settled out quite a bit, but still doesn't have any of the gold colour that the bee on the left (just 2-row and Saaz, been there for 3 weeks) has. Edit to add: It used to be completely the same colour as that grey trub you see at the bottom.

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

Just brewed this up on Saturday (I'm a newb still, this was batch 4) and my only question is this - Fermenter is sitting next to a "lawnmower beer" recipe (2-row and saaz only) and it looks...grey. I forgot my irish moss, so I expected a bit of cloudyness, but this is something different. The...

    Coopers IPA

Currently sipping a Coopers IPA, brewed as follows: 1kg DME, 1kg Dextrose, 1 oz Cascade @ 25 minutes, and 1oz Cascade dry hopped for 5 days, total volume 20L. Boil volume was only about 2.5 gallons. It's outstanding. I'd recommend finding a recipe you want, hanging on until you've got the...

Old beers and hop flavour turning you off

yeah, the one with the yellow label. Not only did I hate it, but I hated every IPA I drank after it. Is it Nugget that tastes that way?

Old beers and hop flavour turning you off

Good evening gents I'm fairly new to brewing, and am in the middle of a transition to all-grain (BIAB) brewing. A part of my process has been to buy craft brews in the 22oz bombers to try everything I can get my hands on and get an idea as to what I'd like to brew. Note: i'm in Canada, so...

    Seasonal brewing

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pot-in-pot_refrigerator I suspect you could build something like this out of 2x4, plywood, and then scrounge up some sand. Just add water occasionally...

    Faint spicy aftertaste?

Hey guys. Finished bottling my first 2 beers the other day and just tasted them. Right off the bat, I'll say I know I need to let the condition and age a little bit to get them to their best, I've just never heard of an almost spicy aftertaste as a side-effect of drinking your beer while...

    3rd time's a charm - new guy questions

Coopers kits are the 1.7kg can of LME. Volume was 23L, as directed by the kit directions. When this next batch clears out, I'm going to physically pour in 23L and re-mark the line on my primary, as I'm pretty sure it was just marked with a measuring stick at the LHBS - It's possible that...
