    Tubing for hot wort transfer

    Boil off rate seems high

    I collect about 6.75 gallons of runnings in the kettle and lately I am only getting about 4-4.5 gallons after the boil into my carboy. Does this seem high? Maybe I have the burner turned up too hot?

    2 different varieties too close?

    I have cascade and nugget hops which get pretty close near the top and might start to intertwine or touch near the top. Is this bad and should I cut them near the tip so they stop growing taller? attached are pics to see what I mean.
