    Canadian Roll Call!!

Hopefully I wrote you a good sheet! Congrats on placing in your first comp, great accomplishment! I hope you keep entering! It's tough to remember specific beers, but I always do my best. I usually find myself on the organizing side of comps over here in Toronto so I do my best to drive to...

    Canadian Roll Call!!

I'm glad to hear you have a good experience with your first BJCP comp, I drove out from Toronto to judge. Don't forget, there are only 4 days left to register and drop off your entries for Brew Slam, so it's coming up quick! Full details here: https://www.gtabrews.ca/brew-slam/

    Cheers from Caledon, Ontario

I think you'll find that Toronto Brewing has much fresher ingredients, and better overall experience than CHS in Brampton. It's been a few years since I trekked out to CHS, but Randy used to be infamous for his rude treatment of eager customers. Also, I see you are from Toronto! Have you...

Revised buying guide for pH meter (based on the book Water)

I have an Omega 7011 and love it. It replaced my Hanna pHep 5 after it crapped out. It responds much faster than my old pHep 5 and seems to hold the calibration quite well. Calibrated it for the first time in 6 months yesterday and it wasn't off by more than 0.02 Very happy with it...

    4 faucet jockey box build

homebrewbeliever, how did this work out for you? I am thinking of doing the same thing for my wedding. The kegs would start cold but warm up over a few hours as they are served. I am looking at a 7 pass cold plate and doing a 4 tap jockey box. 3 of the taps would be doubled up, and 1 of them...

Will this cheap 3500 watt induction burner work?

Quick Update: Had this burner going since March 2013 and on my 30th batch last night the internal fuse blew. I opened it up and soldered a wire over it temporarily but will have to find another fuse or breaker to replace it. Cheers, Eric

    Any greater toronto area homebrewers?

Hey Everyone, I think a few might people have already joined the club through this thread but I just wanted to jump in and introduce the club anyways. GTA Brews is a relatively new club to Toronto, almost a year old now with 160 members and rising. We've been meeting pretty much monthly...

Will this cheap 3500 watt induction burner work?

Part of the noise is just buzzing from my phone's microphone. The 3500 does have a fan on it though, and it isn't silent (but not super loud).

Will this cheap 3500 watt induction burner work?

I use a 10 gal Bayou Classic on my Avantco 3500. Works fine, been brewing like that for 20 batches now.

    best place for supplies: Canada

Gilberson and Page in Fergus, ON will sell to homebrewers. They distribute Wyermann, Muntons, and Canada Malting. http://gilbertsonandpage.com/ Also, I'm pretty sure that OBK and TorontoBrewing are cheaper than beergrains.com and bigger selection.

    best place for supplies: Canada

Not sure why you say there are no good stores in Ontario... There are two amazing homebrew stores in Ontario that ship nationwide cheap and quick. In general they are both better than 90% of USA homebrew stores since they both have really great selection and prices lower than most USA...

Will this cheap 3500 watt induction burner work?

I have one of these bags: http://www.biab-brewing.com/ I can velcro it into position a few inches above the bottom of the pot.

Will this cheap 3500 watt induction burner work?

If you are going to be building a cable to plug the 6-20 into your 14-30 dryer outlet, I would be sure to build a 20A breaker into the cable too. That way it's safe. Otherwise you could fry your cable/cooktop if an overcurrent occurs. Also be sure to check if the Megapot is induction ready...

    Homebrewery setup

Sorry, new terms for me. What is 80/20? What is CIP? What is the larger part of the vertical tubing, hopback? Awesome system!

Will this cheap 3500 watt induction burner work?

Yep, works great. I get better heating performance than most propane burners. Tap temp to strike temp in 20-30 mins, mash temp to boil in 20-30 mins. Here's a video of it in action:

Do you need to grind your malt?
