Taking homebrewed beer on a plane

I have been flying with homebrew in my checked baggage. I put each bottle in a small cardboard box not much bigger than the actual bottle and stuffed the space with socks. Everything went fine. I think you should pack them as tight as possible so that there is no room for them to "fly arround"...

    German IPA?

I know people that routinely dryhop with "Perle". Thats definitely worth trying. The new German flavor hops (Mandarina Bavaria, Hallertau Blanc, Huell Melon, Polaris) sound better than they actually are. I had a dry-hopped Mandarina-Weizen that did not much taste like "mandarina" at all...

    Alcohol Without Yeast

Besides yeast, the main player in ethanol production is Zymomonas mobilis. Already 20 years ago their ethanologenic pathway was sucessfully introduced into E. coli [Ohta et al., Applied and Environmental Microbiology, 57(4):893–900, 4 1991.]. The problem with that, is mainly that E. coli...

…when you have a dream about drinking the IPA you made the day before. (this alone would already qualify, i assuume) And in that dream it tastes not bitter at all. You then wake up and fear you miscalcualted the hops and the first thing you do after getting up is take a sample to make...
