SABCO false bottom in the UK

Hi everyone, As the title suggests, I am looking for somewhere in the UK that sells a SABCO false bottom to fit a converted keg for a mash tun. Does anyone know where I could get one or failing that a good alternative? Cheers, John

    Ginger beer lack of body

Thanks for your answers, it's only been conditioning for a week or so but as I suspected just like yooper said, it is just flavoured sugar water. I'll order some maltodextrin and try adding it. The only stuff I can find online(in the uk) is coopers body bru unless anyone else knows of a supplier....

    Semi automated bottling setup

Because I have kegs, gas lines etc I'm pretty sure you could make it for cheaper with some scrap wood. You could also adjust the springs and tube lengths for different bottles. I sometimes get the missus to help on bottling day and she hates it cos I make a lot of mess with foaming from a beer...

    Semi automated bottling setup

So I need to design a system (cheap) to bottle my beer from kegs, quickly, cleanly and retaining quality. The best system I have found so far is the one in clip: http://youtu.be/9ikKnYwKtjA Has anyone designed anything similar or better? Cheers, John

    gas Vesus electric

I don't know if anyone has discussed this before but, has anyone calculated whether it is cheaper to use gas (domestic supply or bottled) or electricity when heating water and boiling wort in the UK? I am thinking of upgrading my setup but would rather build a system that uses the cheapest...

    Wheat to improve head retention

Thanks for the replies, apparently the wheat doesn't add any flavour, do you just add it to a recipe in addition to other ingredients in the mash? Also, should I use flaked wheat?

    Wheat to improve head retention

I went on a brewery tour at the black sheep brewery at the weekend (hmmm, very nice) where they said at they include wheat in their recipes to help the beer keep a good head. Does anyone use this method in their recipes and how does it work?

First all grain, volume, sparge and boil questions

Thanks for the comments guys. Do you take water from the boiler into your bucket and then the mash tun? I coudnt see a preboil sg in the recipe. After the boil I got an sg of 1.040 with a target of 1.056 I didn't want to boil for longer as i thought it might change the hop profile. I...

First all grain, volume, sparge and boil questions

Hi every one, I'm a newbie to proper beer brewing and have just done my first all grain which, as I'm sure you will all remember from from you first, I am very proud of. I originally made the extract version of Orfy's hobgoblin II which was amazing and showed the potential I have in making...

Hob Goblin - Extract and Steep.

Orfy, I am new to the forum and new to brewing proper beer ie not from a kit or a can. I used this recipe for my first ever extract and steep brew but using kronin's quantities https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f12/hobgoblin-ii-question-112541/ I must say it turned out far better than I ever...

    Filtering lager

So, I've decided to filter a keg of home brew. My friends aren't into homebrew (narrow minded I think) and I want to make a crystal clear lager that they should accept. I have set up a cartridge water filter between my two corny kegs with a 1 micron filter (the lager was originally naturally...
