Better than finding a $20 in your jeans after washing?

I keep a six pack of everything I brew. Labeled so I know what they are of course. I found a few Belgian tripels that I thought were gone and realized like the rest of you they weren't just a bit better with age they were amazing. That's what got me started saving some back.

You know you're a home brewer when?

When you start building a room addition to your house because you outgrew the storage space previously allocated by SWMBO. But hey new brew room set up to my preferences will be good for me.

Beer styles at 72-75 degree fermentation temperature

I've had really good luck with belgians into the mid 70's no fussels that anyone seemed to complain of. BUT I do make sure it's a very stable temp and not swinging all over the range. And typically I use a rope tub with a few ice bottles for the first day. But that's only in the last few brews.

whats important to you in a homebrew store?

The only complaint I have about my LHBS is their hours of service. Closed sunday and monday. Close at 4pm on Sat. and 6pm on other nights. And considering they don't open till 11am that makes it rough for me to get there most days. I usually have to plan a special day just to get supplies. I...

When do you need a blow off tube

I haven't done many big beers but that one i put the pick of is a 1080 and it's the first time I've needed one. now that is 48 hours into it the blow off isn't needed anymore so i switched to an air lock for space conservation. That beer next to it is a 1055 and both brewed the same time it's...

When do you need a blow off tube

Lol i thought 5 gallons in a 6.5 bucket would be safe from needing a blow off tube. I was wrong on this beer. Problem is the tube i have is to narrow to handle the pressure so i just have to leave it off with a star San towel on top now.
