Quick question for Holiday 7.0 Freezer Owners

I am about to purchase a 7.0 Holiday from Lowes. For now I intend to use only picnic faucets. Can someone please confirm that this thing will actually CLOSE without a collar and ball lock kegs on the floor with lines attached? Most of the pics I can find have collars. Thanks!!:mug:

Question for Holiday 7.0Cu Freezer Owners!

Will the Holiday 7.0Cu freezer shut completely with ball lock kegs + line connectors attached? I ask this because I plan NOT to build a collar, and I want to make sure the kegs will have enough room. For now I want picnic faucets and once I save up enough, i'll build a draft tower.

    3 kegs in a fridge?

Will any regular minifridge hold 3 ball locks? I know some of the commercial kegerators can, but I don't know about converted fridges. I am in an apt and don't really have space for an upright freezer.

    Lacto Starter Gravity?

I am planning to make a Berliner Weiße in the coming weeks and I wanted to get a lacto starter going a week or 2 a head of time. Does one make bacterial starters similarly to yeast starters? About 1.035? What volume? I assume that bacteria like different conditions then yeasts do. I would...

Can dry hops release dissolved CO2?

Last week I brewed a best bitter, but forgot to add about .8oz of goldings at the end of the boil for aroma hops. I added them into the primary as dry hops 1 week later, after fermentation. My hydrometer read 1.010 so I believe it was done. However since I've put the dryhops in, now 3 days...

Is a step mash a requirement for my Witbier?

I'm going to be brewing Jamil's Witbier on Sunday, which is about 50% flaked wheat. He recommends a step mash (122-154˚F). Is this for increased enzymatic activation, because the flaked wheat is unmalted? Does the pils malt, which is also about 50% of the bill, have enough diastatic...

Channeling and grain material with new false bottom.

I've recently "upgraded" my 10 gal round rubbermaid MLT to a 12" stainless false bottom from NB. My first brew with it was terrible. I had LOTS of grain material coming out of the spigot and then a stuck sparge! I noticed that there was channeling the MLT also. There was a half inch gap...

    Burnt Flavor

I have a burnt flavor in my dubbel. Its been in the primary for 11 days now. I checked in on it and there is a strong burnt flavor and slight burned aroma. I believe it can be 1 of 2 things: 1. I got a new false bottom for my MLT and it seems to let some grains out when sparging. For...

Please help me solve a beer style mystery!

I spent some time in Germany a few years ago, before I was big into beer. I had many a good liters, but one style stood out. Many places always served a Helles, a Dunkel, and a "Spezial" or "Speziale" (which means "special"). If I remember correctly, the Spezial was usually golden but kinda...

    Dang! Missed my gravity again!

Tonight is the third time in a row i've been under my pre-boil gravity by about 8 points or so. I tossed in some DME but I hate missing gravities. I use a steel braid in a 10 gal rubbermaid and I think its floating around in the mash. Its at the end of its days, its kind stretched out and...

Good place to get blank glassware online?

I'm looking for a good place to get relatively inexpensive blank beer glassware online. I've been looking for restaurant supply stores but usually you have to buy them by the case. Has anyone been successful in finding a place that has a good variety and prices?:mug:

    Oops, Overreacted!

So I made an American Amber today, Jamil's recipe. When I measured my Pre-Boil Gravity, I read it as 1.033. I wanted 1.044. So I freaked out and ran to my computer to use my brewing software to figure out how much DME I'd need to get 1.051 for my OG. Phew! 1.7 lbs - had plenty of DME on...

Please, feedback on my Russian Imperial Stout: Babushka's Breakfast

What does everyone think of this recipe I want to brew tomorrow? My goal is something more mellow and less harsh than some american RIS's. I am using all UK hops, maris otter base, and US-04 yeast, to obtain a more british profile. Very similar to JZ's "Czar's Revenge" Please let me know...

Oster fridge and Sanyo 4912 both disappeared?

I need a fermentation fridge and maybe a kegerator in the near/distant future. I understand that Sanyo stopped making the 4912, and that recently we've all determined that Oster makes a fridge with similar dimensions to the 4912. However I cannot find it on the Best Buy website or the Oster...

    Really long fermentation

I have a golden strong ale (OG 1.072) that I brewed a month ago. It is still in the primary and I still have airlock activity. I am worried. I wanted to bottle this for a competition but I think they dock points for bottle bombs. :p I had a long blow off tube till last night, when I put on a...

    Golden Strong Ale Temps

I am currently fermenting JZ's Belgian Golden Strong Ale, and he suggests to pitch in the mid to low sixties and allow the fermentation temps to gradually rise to up to 84. I think the purpose of this is to effectively avoid some of the harsher fusel alcohols but to still get some characteristic...
