    Wood fired brewstand

The wife and I just recently purchased 40 acres nestled just inside the Superior National Forest. Utilities are nonexistent. Wood, on the other hand is in plentiful supply. I typically only brew for major events or while on home vacations... so developing a controllable wood fired brew setup...

    Awesome HBT Member Video

I'm sure most if not all of you know Lonnie Mac - creator of the Brutus rigs.. He a great guy who has helped many of us better our brewing. His son Levi joined the Navy not to long ago, and due to our common employer, I've kind of been watching Levi from a distance in a completely non stalker...

What RPM do you run your grain mill at?

I just was gifted a 5 HP 3450 RPM motor. I've got a 2" Drive Pulley connected to a 8" Driven pully on a mandrel, which I'll attach to the barley crusher via coupling. The resulting rpm is 862.5 or a .25 reduction How fast is too fast? I was hoping to keep with the 8", but if I need to, I'll...

    Serving Homebrew at parties

I'm organizing for an upcoming party, One oversight - drink wear - I've got close to 20 pint glasses, so I figured I'd make a move to plastic glasses to cover the 40+ people coming. One question: 12oz or 16oz? Pros/cons?

So I got a brewing related Christmas Gift... now what?

I'm not one for treading too far off the beaten brewing path, but to family and friends who might go way out on a limb and try my (cough) "exotic" pale ales, I'm way out there... They all encourage me, which is cool, but this year I have encouragement unlike I've had before... My mother in...

Let me see your BIAB setup!

I've got a 10 gal RiMS system ...it works great, and I'm not going to change a thing. BUT, I guy can't live on one brew rig alone! My plan is to build a 5 gal BIAB set up, recirculated, temp controlled, electrically heated... but before I venture down that path, I'd love for you all to...

Pest Control - finally got the vermin chewing on my hops

Thumper got thumped... I noticed some damage to the low portions of my hops along with something digging and attacking the root system... then this morning I noticed the little gray fur ball having a meal. I baited the back yard with a hand full of mixed nuts, set my bow just inside the...

    Ultrasonic repellent for japanese beetles

Just a quick question to see if anyone has researched using ultrasonic repellent for Japanese beetles? Seems to have it's ups and downs If it works on the beetles, it would mean not having to use pesticides, however, if it DOES work on the beetles, it most likely will drive other wanted insects...

    Cleaning Ball Lock Fittings

I'm in the middle of a kegerator "refit"... I'm replacing all plastic and rubber parts, cleaning and sanitizing all metal parts and replacing all my beer lines. I clean the lines often, but running solution through them doesn't always get the job done. Here's my question (maybe some aspiring...

    Honey Froze! any problems?

So I got some honey this past fall from a friend (4 gallons) and I've used a gallon of it so far. I had the other gallons near an outside wall of the brewery and oops, they got a little frozen. Is this going to change things for me? or do I just warm it back up a bit and use as normal?
