    Cascade Harvest Ale?

So our cascade harvest (while a little late this year) is going to yield a bunch of hops and I want to brew with them directly from the vine. Any idea for a cascade "harvest" ale? Thinking just a simple APA, using pellets for bittering and then the cascade spread over the last 15 minutes or so?

Have 6 gallons of honeycrisp cider..looking to age till next year

It turned out great. I ended up letting it age for about 6 months. By that time, it cleared completely and it had a pronounced apple flavor. When I tasted it before I transferred it to the secondary it was very tart, but after a while, the apple flavor returned. It was somewhat sweet, but...

Is Northern Brewer making fun of Budweiser?

My lhbs sent out an email yesterday with an ad in it saying "so you want to brew a pumpkin peach ale"...

Winter Seasonal Beer Bad Santa- A Christmas Ale

I think this was the 2nd or 3rd brew I ever did, and it came out awesome...it is an excellent beer. I would definitely recommend trying it.

    Is it done fermenting?

Typically, if your fg hasn't changed for a few days (at least 3) it is done fermenting. How long has it been fermenting? It doesn't hurt to keep it in the primary for a few extra days.

    Final Gravity too high??

When I have a stuck fermentation, I usually use safale s-05. It is a clean fermenting yeast as long as you keep it at the right temp. I usually ferment s-05 at around 64, so the ambient temp needs be around between 58-60.

A Controversial Question: What is the best crappy beer?

I drink PBR when it is on tap occasionally, and I will bring a case of it to tailgates as a lighter beer since we are drinking for 6-8 hours. I also drink Coors Light at my local dive bar. They have $1.50 pints all day everyday, so you can't go wrong there.

Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

The first time I used the oats, my lhbs was out of flaked wheat, so I just decided to use the oats. Honestly, there isn't much difference. There is a little less "wheaty" taste with the oats, but since you are using so little, there isn't much difference in flavor at all. There is a slightly...

    Ritetemp thermostat for chiller?

I am building a Son of a fermentation chiller and I picked up a ritetemp thermostat (model 6010) from HD. It was the cheapest one, but I notice it says it is for 24v and I plan on using a 12v power supply. Will the thermostat work? I noticed on some other threads that they were using this power...

    Elderflower cider

Thanks for the reply. That sounds like a good idea. I have used k-meta before, just not in cider because I usually used pasteurized juice. I am interested in trying this one out. I am not sure if the elderflower will come through if I add it before fermenting, but I am going to put it in the...

    Elderflower cider

I am going to experiment with some elderflower in a gallon of cider. I plan on using a 1.5 gallons of Costco juice, 1/4 to 1/2 lb honey, and some dried elderflower from the homebrew shop. Has anyone brewed something similar before? Also, how can I sanitize the elderflower? I assume they...

Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

I am brewing this right now with a few small changes. Going with S-05 and flaked oats instead of the wheat. I brewed it this way two years ago and SWMBO liked it better than the original recipe, so I figured it would be best to do it again.

Thanks. How did you set it up using home wiring components?

Have keg for keggle, what to build

I have been brewing for about 2 years, mostly extract but some BIAB. Currently I have 20 quart kettle, a 32 quart kettle and a cooler that I have converted to a mash tun (though I haven't had the time to use it). I was recently offered a keg to turn into a keggle, and while I plan on taking...

How old is your oldest beer? (And is it drinkable)

I have a 2006 braggot from Atlantic Brewing in Maine. I drank the 2007 a year or so ago and it was fantastic. As far as my own beer. I found about a dozen or so Citra Pale Ales that I brewed a year and a half ago...they weren't bad, and the clarity was perfect, but they have taken on almost a...

    Guiness is Overated

When I was in Ireland I think I had one Guiness and that was at the factory. I did have a few Murphy's stouts and I liked them quite a bit more than the Guiness.

    Gusher Question

It could be that it didn't finish fermenting. However, in my experience, when I open a warm bottle I almost always get a gusher. Chill the next one for a day or two, and then try it. Check that before you worry about anything else.
