    Spirals in carboy

Hello I just read an article that said the spirals should float on the beer. Using 2 of these in a 5 gallon secondary will not let this happen unless broken into chunks. It this important? I could put in a 6.5 carboy if needed and purge head space with co 2 .

    Yeast Nutrient

Hello All In a hurry is not good. I have never used a yeast nutrient before, so this was a first. In a hurry to get the wort in the chamber and get done for the night. I misread the label of LD carlson yeast nutrient. I added almost 5 table spoons instead tea spoon. But I added it after the...

A pork chop in every bottle... a bit of madness...

I brewed a porter with homemade beef jerky. Worked very well just to much garlic. Will do it again but with less garlic. Great head retention

    Pump and Sparge arm cooling

Do you also let the pump run at all during the mash? I have heard it can help clear up the wort and maybe increase efficiency.

    Pump and Sparge arm cooling

No it is not the only purpose to chill the wort. The pump will be used for recirculating the mash to keep even temps. I do BIAB and have a false bottom in my keggle. The bottom keeps the bag off the bottom. Since the pump already has wort in it and sterile, I just thought it would be easier to...

    Pump and Sparge arm cooling

Hello All I recently made a sparge arm for my keggle much like the More Beer ultimate sparge arm. I was wondering can I use this and a wort immersion chiller and a pump to cool the wort? I would like to set it up and let the pump and arm do the work. I usually run the chiller and mix around...

    Krausen

Hello I am wondering about krausen with all grain BIAB. I have been doing extract for a couple years. Switched to BIAB this year. I read about a lot of people using blow off tube and such. Since I have been doing BIAB my beers have been better. But a lot less krausen maybe an inch but not much...

    Keggle BIAB First time

I like simple. I have done about 50 extract brews in 2 yrs. All grain will come some day. I just don't want to have a whole day planned to brew. I will go all again if I find a few house beers I cant live without and make 10 gallon batches. But I like variety so I only do 5 gallon. Hope to do...

    Keggle BIAB First time

Hello Yes the valve is on the side of the keggle. I am not sure if I will be adding a dip tube to it. I may just tip it as I transfer to the carboy. If I do I plan to add a tube I will keep it off the bottom so I leave the hop material that is passed. I dont mind if any passes as I know it will...

    Keggle BIAB First time

Hello All Ok I am going from extract to BIAB. I have a keggle now and plan on doing 5 gallon batches. I have a ball valve in the bottom. I also purchased a false bottom that covers the whole bottom of the keg, with the valve under the screen. I plan to leave the bottom in during the mash. I may...
