    Thanks for the input. I'm just baffled by the jump from 1.050 to 1.1060 After a 90 min boil , I've never had so little boil off. Thanks again for the answer , ill keep working at it too ha

    Hey guys I am completely confused sonim gonna get straight into it . I brewed a beer this evening and after a 90 min boil I only jumped 10 points on the hydrometer . My equipment has been calibrated and the only variable is that my measure stick may be off. Heart are some numbers , please help...

    Yeah that's the first thing I did , it seems fine. Thanks for all the feedback . I'm delighted I was able to achieve that kind of efficiency. It was supposed to be a hop ottin ipa clone but I think that plan is out the window haha.

    Wow that's way past anything I have ever gotten before . Does it seem a bit high for the grain bill I used .? 13lbs pale ale, 2 lbs Munich and 1 lb caramunich . I want to believe it but it seems so high

    Here is where I get confused. If I have the efficiency at 78% and a pre boil gravity of 1.063 at 7.5 gal .. Can I just work out the maximum efficiency for 5 gal and find 78% of that ,and that would be my og at 5 gal. ?? Not sure if that works though

    Thanks for all the replies. From my limited knowledge carafa2 is the only black malt on the market. I think roasting my own will be the option. Could I roast a pilsner malt or pale ale malt. ( I have plenty of each) ?
