    Christmas Ale Spice Rations??

That's a great idea. Since I plan to bottle the beer for a longer period of time, I have plenty of time to play with it. I may give that a try, barring any other suggestions, opinions, or thoughts. Thanks Kevin!

    Christmas Ale Spice Rations??

Hi All, I am working up a Christmas Ale recipe, loosely based on an Olde Ale base. I'm mostly interested in my spice additions, and if the ratios are within acceptable parameters. I don't want to use too little and not taste them, but I don't want to ruin the beer by having too much of...

    5 Day Sweet Country Cider

Yeah, it was worth a shot. Anybody have any thoughts on the questions above?

    5 Day Sweet Country Cider

Once Primary hits 1.004, will cold crashing the whole batch stop the fermentation? Could I just rack into a keg at the point, cold crash it for 24 hours, then attach hoses to my keezer set up without concerns of yeast activity?

To Sacch Rest or Not to Sacch Rest

I appreciate that, but I’m far less concerned with what others think the definition of a particular style is, than I am if I needed a protein rest or not; which was promptly answered already. [emoji482]

To Sacch Rest or Not to Sacch Rest

Thanks BigEd. Shoot, perhaps I was thinking of a protein rest. Is that enough Wheat to warrant a protein rest in that recipe (next time, since I’ve already started today)?

To Sacch Rest or Not to Sacch Rest

For semantics sake, call it a light Pale Ale. I kept with the Single Infusion at 148°F for 75 min.

To Sacch Rest or Not to Sacch Rest

Brewing up a Blonde Ale recipe with a 1.5 pounds of “wheat” in various presentations. -1LB White Wheat Malt @9.1% -8oz Flaked Wheat @4.5% Being a blonde ale, does it make any sense to do a Sacch rest for any period of time? Or should I let it ride with a standard Single Infusion Light Body...

Peaks and Cheeks... what kind of beer!?

While camping in the mountains this past week with some friends, I had my binoculars out, glassing a peak for mountain goats. One of the ladies, who is rather voluptuous, was in front of me, and to make a long story short, it turned into a joke that I was actually glassing up some “Peaks and...

    Dandelion Ale/wine...?

With spring establishing itself across the country, I am interested in making a dandelion beer or wine. I have two questions... 1) can I freeze the flower heads to later use and not ruin them? 2a) do the stems need to be cut off; only use the head of the flower? 2b) for the flower head, do I...

Regulator high pressure gauge needle on wrong side of the pin

That's a real good point Ecu. I didn't buy a used DIY project to play with in my spare time. As far as I know it's been like that from the beginning, but I only noticed it about 2 weeks ago. Like I said its about 1.5 months old, so essentially brand new. maazak, when I turn tank off, the...

Regulator high pressure gauge needle on wrong side of the pin

Lol! Yeah, that's probably my next step. LHBS store I got it from usually helps me out on this kind of stuff, so I'm sure a simple exchange is what I'll do. Only had about 1.5months. I was just wondering if there was something I can do to fix it while lounging around the house on this fine...

Regulator high pressure gauge needle on wrong side of the pin

Hi All! My CO2 regulator high pressure gauge needle is on the wrong side of the pin. Any ideas on how to fix it? I attached a picture to show what I mean.

    Freezer Rolling Base

To attach the frame to the base of the freezer are you just using liquid nails? Or something like that? How are you attaching the wood frame to the bottom of the freezer?? Shaun

    10 Gallon: Electric vs Gas

So sounds like electric is definitely worth the extra money upfront. Ideally I'd be able to control mash temps and all that too, not just the kettle/boil. I'll take a look at that link and start putting together a game plan! Thanks for the responses. If you know other 10 gallon HBs have them...

    10 Gallon: Electric vs Gas

I plan on upgrading my equipment to be able to do 10 gallon batches. Obviously 5 gallons batches will still be in the mix, but I want to have the capacity for 10 gallons. What is everyone's thoughts get a gas burner set up or spending the extra money for an all electric set up? Seems like...

    Stout Feedback

McKnuckle, that's exactly what I was wanting! Thank you! I will make a few surgical adjustments and dig into the mash pH (yep, BeerSmith default!!). Hopefully in 4ish months I'll let you know I have a great Stout.

    Stout Feedback

Hey Guys, I'm looking for feedback on this stout recipe I put together. The goal is to be fairly robust and forward, with plenty of body. I have only brewed one stout before with mixed results, so I'd like to get some feedback before diving back in. I would love to hear anything you have...
