    Not brewing all at once

Has anyone ever separated their brew day? I did this the last time I brewed, and as I drink while typing, I am not noticing anything off about my AM Ape, a breakfast stout. Further description of the day; When my daughter went down for her nap I got started. She slept just long enough for...

    Repurposing fridge parts

I recently converted my beer fridge to a kegerator, and there is no room to use the shelves and drawers. Is there any use for these that I don't know of?

    Freezing off extra volume

Has anyone ever done this, and can possibly give reason for doing so or not? I ask because my last batch had less than expected grain absorption, and I didn't have enough time to boil off as much as I would have liked. So would it make sense to eliminate some volume going into my keg by...

What to do with this water.

To be to the point, I have 10 gallons of distilled water that I am wondering if I can make any use of. I have read many threads, and didn't see this question answered. Could I use 5 of them along with five gallons of regular water? I know for all grain I need some minerals in the water...

    Wyeast question. Did I contaminate?

So I bottled my latest batch tonight which is a rye pale ale. I have never used rye, but figured I would like it based on Sierra Nevada ruthless rye. I used the bravo hop that I was told they use and wyeast. That last part was new to me as I have used pretty much dry yeast exclusively in the...

Best place to buy? Kegerator conversion kit

So the inevitable has happened, and I am tired of bottling. I have a beer fridge in the garage I want to convert to a kegerator, and I am wondering the best place to buy the equipment. I want at least two taps and probably three. My thinking right now is to purchase locally, but not without...

    Rehydrating two packets

Double the yeast so double the water in a single bag/bowl? I just picked up Palmer's book, and it says the best way to do it, but doesn't talk about pitching double.

Coolers with wheels as mash tuns

I've asked this in a couple threads without response soooo NEW THREAD! :mug: Coolers with wheels typically, if not always, have stepped bottoms due to the axle for the wheels. If they are used for mashing does the step create any problems such as poor efficiency?

What and How to brew next?

Budget is going to keep me from brewing for a little while after this next batch, so the decision is big. Nut Brown or Breakfast Stout? I feel I can be drinking either of these in ~5 weeks. Also, I try to elevate my skill each time I brew, but I don't know that I can this time, again...

    Refrigerator Operating Temperature

Anyone know the range(degrees F) from setting 1 to 9. I am thinking I can sit my lager in the fridge to free up my fermentation chamber for an ale, and wondering where I should set it if I do so. GE model gts18jcprrww. I've had no luck finding my answer on google though.

    Unique? Lagering Question

I couldn't find anything searching. Maybe my terms are wrong for it. Anyway. I brewed my first lager last week, just checked the gravity, and it hasn't moved a single point. I started elevating the temp on it thinking that maybe I didn't give it long enough in the high 60s to get started...

    Brew pot diameter

My propane burner is 12.5" in diameter. If I get a new brew pot, should it be less than or equal to that? I am having trouble finding one that size. They all seem to be 14" and larger.

How much head space for high gravity beer?

I brewed a pale ale this weekend, and everything is going fine except I've used up all my head space. The fg was 1.070, and the final volume came out between 5 and 5.5 gallons. The brew is coming out of the airlock, and pressure has built to the point that the lid of the 6.5 gallon bucket is...

    Cleaning Freezer lid gaskets

So I just got a used freezer, and the thing was pretty filthy. Over the weekend I cleaned it thouroughly, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out except for the lid gasket. I'm slightly worried about it. It had quite a bit of black mold on it. After removing the gasket from the lid...

    Hey
