I'm certain my drop was an infection, not a unfinished fermentation before bottling. No reason a PM pumpkin should ever get to 1.005.

Check what they are now in the bottle though.

Check to see if your gravity dropped after bottling. I had a pumpkin beer drop from 1.015 to 1.005. Was fine at 2 weeks in bottle, but at 4 they were gushing and had 2 b bombs.

Just confirmed my own question. Dropped from 1.015 to 1.005. Time to replace some plastic and be more thorough on cleaning. Thought I was plenty clean though.

My pumpkin beer is way over carbonated and continues to get worse so I'm thinking gusher bug. If it is a gusher bug shouldn't the gravity be lower than pre-bottling or would it not be measurable?

Even with open cell foam stopper this will happen if you shake it hard after it has sat for a while. If you start shaking gently it will release enough CO2 through the foam to then shake it hard.

That would solve it along with a pop bottle longer with part of both ends cut off.

Negative - the top collapses a little. Not a big deal though, doesn't affect anything really. I use a racking cane to prop it up. Keeps a nice cool stable temp with just a few frozen water bottles. Great product for the price.

Not sure why people say it's hard to get top off water and partial boils to mix either. Every extract batch I have done has hit the target OG spot on. Shake the carboy a couple minutes and you can get a good reading.
