TSA took away my Star San

This. Also, there is phosphoric acid in soda. They give away tens of gallons on the plane.

10 pints or so and the taste is all but gone. But.... it still foams like crazy .

Looks like infection before even pitching yeast

I had one like that. Nasty yeast. I kegged it and waited. 1 month later, same. 2 months later, same. Undrinkable. I forgot about it in the back of the fridge. 4-5 months later I needed a keg and was going to dump it. Seconds before I dumped, I decided to give it one last taste. Hooked up a...

Is "Ultra Barrier Silver Beer Hose" worth it?

Well, mine arrived and so far I'm not so sure. Pour: First three glasses have been 50% foam. First pour was immediately after install, foam expected. Second was it 2 hours, same. Third at 5 hours, same. Taste: All three tasted metallic. Similar to Becks, actually. Setup: Sweetwater 420...

Is "Ultra Barrier Silver Beer Hose" worth it?

I was about to place an order. Still no off flavors? Any change in the loss of carb?

co2 tank went boom at family reunion

Personally isn't the issue, inside the passenger compartment is. And scuba is slightly different. If a disk bursts, it doesn't instantly fill the passenger compartment with asphyxiating and/or potentially explosive gas. CO2 does the former, acetylene the latter. Of course I could be mistaken...

co2 tank went boom at family reunion

If I'm not mistaken, it's unlawful to transport gas cylinders inside a passenger vehicle.

Need help with electric kettle feed

Are you certain about that? If so, then why does code call for #6 wire (50A carrying) on a 220v/50A circuit? I'm not saying your wrong, but my understanding differ. For power to balance, 220V x 50A = 11KVA 110V x 25A x2 = 5500VA. Those are two very different animals, the latter...

Need help with electric kettle feed

I could use a little advice on this semi-beer related project. I'm installing a 120V/30A outlet (TT-30R) for a camper. I'd also like it to serve as an outlet for an electric HLT. I'm recycling pieces from an old hot tub feed. So far I have a 220V/50A breaker in the main panel and a...

    50A GFCI after a 30A breaker?

LOL! I was searching for this for a non-beer related project, and I ended up back here at HBT. I guess no matter what, it all comes back to beer...

    57 gallon electric HLT build

The device telling you the load exceeds 80% is the breaker itself. Breakers have internal thermal protection, and they will trip on load and heat buildup. Heat is directly related to load. Run a breaker at 90% for very long and the thermal protection will trip. Size your breaker for 125% of...

    Crazy damned wives

+1. Before his first baby, my best friend asked me what was the one piece of advice I would give a soon to be dad. It to him to be prepared for exactly what you just described. I've worked triples and not been as tired as I was after a good nights sleep with a new baby. You think it's not...

just found what i think to be mold in my bottles

No pathogens grow in beer. Spoiled beer may taste like crap, but it's drinkable. i.e. Never throw out beer unless it tastes like Satan's anus... Open that bottle, pour it in a glass, and figure out what you've got. 10:1 odds it's just good beer.

    Need help engineering burners

onthekeg: Yes, sort of. The BG12 is the burner found in the SQ14, but I bought it separately. Catt22: Full open is not necessarily a requirement, but a easy, clear "stop" indicator is. Even if that means just a pen mark. What I don't want to have to do is dial it in every time for best...
