    How much top off water?

    my stove top will only boil aboit 3 gallon brews my question is can i mash enough grain for a 5 gallon batch in that ammount of water and then just add top off water to bring it to 5 gallons after i boil?

    do i have to make a starter from washed yeast?

    Do i have to make a starter from washed yeast or can i just throw it into my next batch? The washed yeast will only be in the fridge for about a week before i brew again.

    Has anyone brewed a Ale Thats close to Sam Adams Boston Lager?

    I dont have a cold enough place to do a Lager so can i do an Ale thats close?any recipes? Thoughts? I cant be the only person who likes Sam's .Im fermenting in a closet at about 68 degrees now.

    from OG.1.052 to 1.016 in 5 days is this ok?

    I pitched a 3 gallon batch onto a yeast cake from a 5 gallon batch and in 5 days the fg was on target. also can i just throw another batch right on top of that yeast cake when i rack it off? How many times can i do this?

    cold crashing?????

    When i cold crash does it kill the yeast or just make it sleep till it warms back up?The reason im asking is if i bottle from my keg and then those bottles warm up will i make bottle bombs?

    I did a cream of three crops brew using 1/2oz of williamettes at 60mins and a 1/2 oz Crystal ay 60mins.My question is can i dry hop with Cascades? I just tried a friends light beer that he dry hopped with cascades and it was really good. But can i mix all these and still have a drinkable beer?

    Exact recipes with different hops!

    I did a light beer with all Williamette hops and one with all Cascade the IBU's were the same according to a beer recipe calculator. I was amazed at the taste difference in the two. has anyone else tried this yet?

    What happens if i bake some pale 2 row a little? Burnt tasting beer? or caramel? coffee? Isnt that what some of the specialty grains are? just roasted more.

    Tasty Brew .com has a beer calculator, i plugged in all the information i could with a recipe i found online and the OG ,FG,SRM,and ABV were off. Does this mean it will make a bad beer? the recipe calls for Bourbon and rasins in the secondary. the calculator doesnt have any place to input that...

    was hoppy now its not?

    i just kegged a batch 2 days ago and i am force carbing,i had to sneak a taste when kegging and it resembled a yazoo pale ale or even a boston lager. 2 days later i had another sneek taste and it seems to be less hoppy?? is this normal? if so next batch gets more hops
