    Glycol

Hey, I know this should be easy to find, but couldn't find it in a quick google search. I just got an Icemaster Max 4 chiller and I've never owned a chiller before. Assuming I don't do something stupid (always a risk), how long does glycol last before you need to drain and replace? What...

    Tower of Power Help

Hi All...I took a long break to move and now I'm coming back to this. I've determined that my solenoid does not have a large enough orifice for my burner. Has anyone replaced the Asco solenoid to one with a larger orifice for natural gas? Preferably one i wouldn't need to rewire. If so and...

    Marty's Basement Brewery

Kal, I actually have the CO2 detector because I also have my keg setup in the basement. It has a 20lb CO2 tank attached to it. If my setup has a leak and the entire CO2 tank leaks out in the basement it can also kill you. Also orderless and almost as dangerous. In case you want to...

    Marty's Basement Brewery

Sorry for not responding guys. Work has been crazy. I will try and read through everything tonight. I appreciate everyone's responses. I say this lovingly...you are all a bunch of nerds. :D FoCobrewguy...I absolutely love the 2 compartment sink. I could never go back now. I would...

    Marty's Basement Brewery

Thanks Kal... I obviously care about safety and don't really want to kill myself, but I guess I don't understand the real danger. I have both a carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide detector in the room. I have brewed two batches and the carbon monoxide detector has never gone off and the carbon...

    Marty's Basement Brewery

Haven't posted in a while. I've made some good progress over the past month. Made my first couple batches on the new system. After a comedy of errors on the first batch, things got a bit easier the second go around. Still need to get the fermentation fridge set up, floor epoxy put down and...

    Tower of Power Help

I don't think so. I believe that is only if you are using pipe with a small orifice. If I remember right, it's only because you run the risk of plugging the orifice. With as large as the natural gas pipes are, I don't think it's possible for this to be a problem.

    Tower of Power Help

I have an old setup that I could use, but I was hoping to use the new system. I have it all set up except for this. It's just frustrating at this point. The arrow is pointed I the right direction and it does seem to cycle correctly. I can hear it clicking and the gas comes on, but the flow is...

    Tower of Power Help

Hi Peeps, I got the Tower of Power because I thought it was idiot proof, but clearly I was wrong. I have sent and email to Blichmann, but their site said it could take 5 - 7 days for a response (and I want to brew tomorrow). Here is my problem. I have a Brutus single tier stand with...

    Marty's Basement Brewery

Thanks. I completely agree, but no tiling the floor for me. :-) It would look nice, but honestly I have blown past my budget by a LOT and I value my marriage. Had a Halloween party this weekend and was showing it off to a group of friends. As they kindly put it..."Dude, you have gone way...

One additional question. Do you normally put tape on your fittings on the inside of your kettles? I did, but just wondering if that could be a problem later.

    Marty's Basement Brewery

Thanks guys. I'm not a huge fan of tiling, but I'm really glad I did it. I hear you on the sink. I fought cleaning a keggle in my kitchen sink for a couple years. Not fun. I actually got the sink before the brew stand, so I had my priorities straight. :-) I really wanted a 3 compartment...

    Marty's Basement Brewery

SLOW progress, but I got the sink all set up and most of the drywall mudding done. Here is a picture of the sink in place. I'm really happy with how it looks. Now that I have it all set up and been using it to clean up stuff, don't get the cheap version of a sprayer. I posted earlier that...

    Whirlpool arm

and I'm sure there is some Newton law that explains it Bobby... :D

    Whirlpool arm

Ha, I like it. I try really hard not to over think things. It just makes my brain hurt. However, I end up with lots of headaches while brewing.

    Whirlpool arm

Thanks poislb! That helps. For some reason I was concerned the pump wouldn't be strong enough to push fluid at the bottom. I have never used a pump before. I'm really looking forward to it! Cheers!

    Whirlpool arm

Hi gang, I know this has probably been discussed 1 mil times, but I'm feeling lazy and don't want to weed through the forum. I have a new Blichmann 20 gallon pot for my boil kettle and I want to install a whirlpool arm. Can any of you tell me the best positioning for it? I still want to be...

    Iodophor vs Star Sans

A couple years ago, I used iodophor for everything. I then found out how bad it was on the environment, so I made the switch to Star San. It's environmentally friendly and I think it works great. They both sanitize, so it shouldn't matter which one you use.
