    I love Rampant IPA

Yes, while I understand that different people like different things, it's hard for me to believe that some people think this tastes like wet hay (or whatever it was posted above). I mean, there are some beers that I'd give 1 star to on Untappd, but you won't find me making barf sounds and...

    I love Rampant IPA

I don't understand the negativity. I specifically came here looking for this recipe because I absolutely love this beer! Guess I'll keep looking.

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

6 minutes to cool one gallon in the sink. I use about 2 1-gallon ziplock bags full of ice. I put the boil pot into the sink, dump the ice around it and then fill the sink to the same level as the wort in the pot (so it doesn't float weirdly). I sorta slosh the pot around in the ice water and I...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Ok, that carb setup I'd pretty sweet. You should totally roll into the local brewpub with a couple of 2-liters and a handheld CO2 bike pump instead of a growler. It's nice that you can just squeeze the bottle because then you don't need a purging method like that newfangled growler setup ive...

    Bairds Carastan sub?

I am entering the recipe from Northern Brewer into Brewtarget and it is NOT spitting out the same ABV, OG, etc based on those ingredients. What gives? Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Bairds Carastan sub?

I had read somewhere that a Crystal 30 would work, but then not, but then someone said 31-38. They don't have a C-30, anyway, but they do have "Maillard Malts Dingemans Cara 45 Malt", so you think that might work? This is only .5lbs of a total of 15.25lbs of grains for the recipe, so as long...

    Bairds Carastan sub?

I'm making a fairly decent sized order from Midwest Supply and one of my planned brews is a Pliny clone that calls for Bairds Carastan. I've done some searching and am not finding what I should substitute for this from Midwest. Ive been doing some drinking, too, so that could be part of the...

some sort of 80-acre clone converted to DIPA?

There ya go, and that growler is going to be my secondary! Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Here's a secret that you cannot tell my wife. i bought a ton of crap at Menards, hardware for all those pots and that mash tun, along with home repair stuff, then i threw the receipts into a box of other receipts and i'll never see them again. It's a secret because I intentionally do not keep...

some sort of 80-acre clone converted to DIPA?

I was having some efficiency issues (I'm AG 1 gal at a time) so for my 4th brew of my 80-Acre Clone from AHS (freaking amazing duplicate BTW) I added to the grain bill to compensate. This left me with too few grains to do another gallon brew, so I thought to myself, "wonder if i can throw this...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Just dropping in to post a pic of my setup. I've only done 1 gal brews with it so far, but I think I can get a half batch (2.5-2.75 gal) out of it depending on how much grain it takes. The nice thing about what I have here is that the hardware on my Walmart pots and mini cooler can be moved to...

    Brewtarget Fly Sparge

TallDan, That's pretty much what I've been doing as well. If one knows how to fly sparge, then it's not really a big deal other than brewday instructions. I'm just new to this stuff, and if a computer can tell me the temps that I should be using, then that's better advice than I'm gonna get...

    Brewtarget Fly Sparge

I see some really old posts saying this is not possible with Brewtarget 1.2 or something. I'm currently running the newest 2.0.2 and am not seeing the option to do fly sparging. So 1st question: Am I just missing how to do that? and if it's STILL not an option: To whom do I make my...

Oh, and I ordered a couple of extra yeast packets ;)

Just started new batch missing Yeast!

I did take a break for a year! Fear not, though. I currently have three brews in bottles and one wine, too. Currently have another wine fermenting and just received the things I need to do an all grain for the first time (80-acre clone).

Not really from yesterday, but thanks for checking in!

Just started new batch missing Yeast!

Nope and the closest brewpub is about 30 minutes away. I learned my lesson, though, so won't happen again!

Just started new batch missing Yeast!

Update for any other dolts who find themselves in a similar position. I yanked those frozen jugs out of the deep freeze about a year later and continued my brewing like it never happened. I'm drinking it now and if there's an ill effect from doing it, then I can't tell! I don't recommend this as...

Just started new batch missing Yeast!

Yeah, I'm leaning more that way, because I like to keep notes about what I did so I always know what went wrong or right. This just unnecessarily introduces too many variables into the process. If it turns out crappy I wanna know that it's the recipe, not the cook, so I can find another one to try.

Just started new batch missing Yeast!

Not their fault at all, it's mine. On a birthday list I made I gave my wife a link to the kit I wanted and said (in email): " No "yeast fuel" or packs to keep yeast cool. I have no preference of yeast brand." She read that as "I don't need yeast" So here's where I'm at. I put the brakes on, I...
