I built a kegerator out of a small freezer (AKA keezer). It was a little unusual in that I used a wood lift design over the hinge rather than over it. This has the advantage of making it easier to get into the keezer. In other words, the wood part lifts with the lid. Anyway, I noticed that the lid was getting loose and last night it fell off of the oak wood part. It was held on with caulk and some screws, but whatever it was screwed into under the lid wasn't too strong.

My solution was simple but not elegant. I drilled some holes in the top of the keezer lid and screwed in some 3" coarse screws through the metal top and into the oak below. It seems to hold, but I'll probably need more than the 5 screws I put in. One screw went right through the outside metal.

Anyone else had to modify keezer or kegerator problems?
