If you do a search, I'm pretty sure this has been discussed at some length, with the eventual conclusion that it's not worth the effort; I could, however, be wrong about that conclusion, so I'd start off in the search box!
i have a sodastream and i remember the instructions tell you to add anything sweet after you carbonate or it would foam up, like shaking up a bottle of soda i guess. give it a try and tell us what really happens.
