Is there any reason I should not put a few small chips of ash (wood) in the secondary when I rack my oatmeal stout? I brewed the batch Friday night, my wife went into labor Saturday morning, and we finally decided to name him Ashton this afternoon. I was thinking about adding the ash as a symbolic thing, and naming the beer Ashton's Stout. My guess is that the wood wouldn't add much (if any) flavor, but if it could possibly ruin the brew, we can suffice with just naming it after my boy.
