I brewed a batch of Abita Turbodog clone on Friday, and after active fermentation started I moved it to the basement.

Recipe says ferment at 55-58 degrees, but I substituted WLP029 German Ale/Kolsch yeast (what abita actually uses).
1. Can I throw(gently place) my fermenter into an ice bath to bring it down?
2. Should I bother? I read that 029 doesn’t do well under 62F - Its about 64 now.
3. It also says to lager at 45F for a week before bottling.
This is only my third batch so I really need help!
