I brewed my second batch yesterday evening. It's a partial mash Belgian Wit. Fermentation took off immediately, and all seems well... except the funny smells from the fermenter. My first brew smelled good the during the whole brewing process--and tasted good too. I'm concerned that this one might have gone wrong somehow. Is there any way to tell? Is a weird smell a bad sign? I could post the recipe I used if that would help. I'm worried about my poor brew! I took careful steps to insure sanitation, although it's undoubtedly possible that something funky got in there.

I know, RDWHAHB. Is my beer no good? Should I be concerned?

Try making some Apfelwein! It puts out kind of a sulfurous smell. Not like rotten eggs or anything, but still a sulfur smell.

I've often wondered and worried about the smell of my brews. But everythings always turned out OK.
