So, I just had to brag. A lil background: I still consider myself a newb (yr & a half, 14 batches in). I mostly make wheat beers, & pale ales. For the most part, I don't like stouts or porters. About 2 months ago, my best friend (who LOVES the dark beers!) asked why I never make dark beers? Because I don't drink them, I told him. I decided to make him an oatmeal stout as a surprise, for his birthday (June 17). So I brewed in mid Feb, bottled mid March, & planned to let it sit until June 17. I just tried one, after 3.5 wks in the bottle. Damn! That is phenomenal, & the best beer I've made to date! It is so creamy, smooth, & tasty! As I said, just had to brag...

I'm a stout man myself. Nothing tastier than a stout on a cold winter night. Congratulations!

It's plenty cold here 2nite, as it probably is by u too!

Here's the sad part: I don't know if I can make it again! When I was crushing the grains, my mill fell over, & I lost about 1.5 lbs of grain! I scaled it down to 4 gallons because of this, but don't know how much it will affect it. I will post the original recipe anyway.

9 lbs Pale malt
1/2 lb chocolate malt
1/2 lb crystal 120L malt
1/2 lb black roasted barley
1/2 lb flaked oats
