Made a brewers best rauchbier. chilled wort down to 52 before i pitched the yeast. temp of basement never got above 58. Would i transfer to my secondary do a diacetyl rest then lager? Or should I do a diacetyl rest then transfer? or were my temps ok that i really dont need a diacetyl rest. Btw primary will not fit in the beer fridge/lager chamber so there is no debate i must transfer to my carboy.

The best way to know if you need a d-rest is to taste the beer. Failing that, you could be on the safe side and just do one anyway, which is done while in primary. If it has already been up at 58 for any length of time, any diacetyl that might have been there is likely gone already.

D-rest in primary seemed to me to make the most sence. But had to check any way. Thanks.
