    Great girlfriend/future wife story...

Drag out the courtship, engagement, etc., until you've done about 100 batches. Then if it is a trap, you won't care as much.

Cleaning a used Turkey Fryer Pot

Why clean it? Isn't EVERYTHING better deep fried?

    Black IPA Help

Update: I bottled one week ago. Broke out one bottle for myself and a friend that was over. Compared it to Rogue's NW Ale. The result I got was better taste (albeit a little flatter, since it's only been a week since bottling). Richer flavor. Definitely a bit darker. I was worried about...

    Misc hops for IPA

So, I have a bunch of 1 - 2 oz. hops left over and I wanted to do an IPA (the more hops the better), with them, but since this will only be my fifth batch, I'm not sure exactly what will go good with what and I'm looking for opinions. I have: 1 - Cascade 2 - Chinook 4 - Fuggles 2 -...

    Weldless kits from Bargain Fittings?

Just be careful and go slow, especially with aluminum. You can drill through that like the proverbial hot knife through butter.

    Black IPA Help

I started with 7 gal. total., but that's a good point about heat being too high. That makes sense. Can't believe I didn't think of that. Actually my sample was taken at about 70. How much does that affect things? Thanks.

    Black IPA Help

First of all, thank you for all the helpful ideas. I brewed this today, and had to make a couple changes. 1. I used Carafa II instead of III (because that's what the brew store had). I upped it to .90 lbs to compensate. Don't know if that was a good idea or not. We'll see. 2. I...

    Black IPA Help

So, here's my attempt at my fourth batch ever. After looking around and reading up a bit I've come up with this for a Black IPA. Any thoughts/comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated. 11.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US 1.00 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 20L 0.75 lb Carafa III 1.00 oz Cascade...

    Maredsous Dubbel

After brewing a few batches of my own, I've decided that I need to step out of my normal taste realm (IPA's) and start looking around for styles to take a stab at. This is one of the first Belgian Ales I've tried. Wow. It's amazing. Note to self: Do not drink this on an empty stomach. :)

    Cleaning Mash Tun Cooler Conversion

Hello. I'm getting ready to brew my first all grain batch (only my third batch ever), and I was cleaning up one of my coolers to use as a mash tun. It was an older cooler and it cleaned up pretty nicely, but I used a little bleach to help sanitize it, and now there is a slight bleach smell...

    Cooler Mash Tun tubing question...

So, I'm converting my cooler over and I went to Home Depot and picked up at 12" piece of braided stainless steel toilet supply line tube, a valve and 3' tubing. After removing the braid I noticed that the tubing inside will fit perfectly (aka. very tightly) in the hole in the cooler. Thus...
