I don't mind some now and then but my wife begs to differ. Her response "I let you keep all your damn bottles all over this house and in my kitchen so the least you can do is brew me me some rasp. wheat." can't argue with that.
it was in the primary for 17 days and my cooler ranges between 65* and 68*. I took a hydro reading the last 3 days of primary and it was steady all 3 days. i plan on letting it stay in the secondary for at least a week maybe 2
so this past weekend I transferred my wheat beer to my secondary fermenting vessel. I added the raspberries to it, about 1 lb. (only a 3 gallon bucket) and set in my cooler. the odd thing is I got airlock activity about 5 minutes after transferring but not a dang thing since. This all took place...
so you mention sanitizing a spoon and dipping a bit of the yeast cake out to put into the secondary. could I also just drop the siphon down to the bottom of the primary and get a bit of the cake that way or if that not a good idea?
^however long any secondary fermentation last and if that is only a few days then probably 7-10 days I guess. do you have any suggestions about time spent in the secondary? thanks
So this coming Saturday will be 2 weeks since I brewed my American wheat brew. My plan is to check the gravity today, tomorrow and Friday to make sure fermentation has stopped. Lets assume for a second that I have a steady gravity reading for the next 3 days should I rack it to the secondary and...
Yeah I should have. Now once they ran a special on 12 packs of Saranac. $7.99 a 12 pack! I bought $84 dollars worth. They were sample packs. Each had 3 pale ale's, 3 pomegranate wheat, 3 summer brews and 3 Helles. My wife damn near crapped herself until she realized they had a pomegranate wheat...
Hot d*mn! I''ll tell ya, one of our local liquor stores was selling it back in June for $2.99 a six pack! They have been know to do this from time to time with beers they have in stock and they don't get rid of. I bought 2 cases worth. I have bought things on special there like Abita light...
So from what i'm reading I think I will try adding 1.5 lbs. to my 3 gallon fermenter. I think I will let them ferment for about a week and a half. Sanitizing is still an issue. I guess I'll pasteurize just to be safe. thanks everyone
Hey everyone. so I have done a few searches on the items in the topic but got no definite answers on a few of them. I understand that when adding frozen raspberries to the secondary for a rasp. wheat it's all about experimentation and individual taste so I can live with that, but I will ask...
